I'm still waiting for him to get some black rims, paint the calipers red and get a spoiler before I get excited though.
Edit: and one of those decals for the windshield that says "SUPERCHARGED" |

With Pontiac offering 0% for 72 months financing on all their cars I've been considering going over to the local Pontiac dealer to sit in their G8 GXP. The wife even gave me the green light. The problem is I haven't sold my last toy yet....
If I can unload this toy before their 0% financing offer ends I'm getting the G8 GXP.

I got $12K for my Father's '99 S500 Grand Edition last week. You gave the S320 away Hopefully it goes to a good home that can appreciate it.

2000 Regal GS. 54,000 miles. Bordeaux red/grey with the medium grey leather interior.
I went out to go purchase an '03 Regal GS Joe Abboud Edition, only to find that the mileage was too high to finance (108k) so I went back and looked at one I previously test drove. I fell in love with it and purchased it on the spot. The low mileage and extremely clean condition are what sold me on it. This is the lowest mileage, newest, most fuel efficent car I've ever owned, and the fastest! Talk about a complete package! | Well it's about goddamned time.... Das Rommelwagen ist kaput!
Strangely however, a small part finds myself already missing the Benz... Although it's probably more the consequential realization that this marks the end of any Nazi-related jokes - and to think we only scratched the surface
Anyway... Where the hell did this one come from? Talk about coming out of left field... I don't recall coming across this one at all, how did you find it - was it listed anywhere? I figured you wouldn't get the '03 Abboud for on reason or another due to the miles on it... but I was almost certain that when I clicked through I would have seen that black 2000 GSE in Farmington - you definitely surprised me!
I noticed this one doesn't have the sunroof... Does it have the heated seats? Either way, with only 54,000 miles you definitely did good ... I have no doubt whatsoever that you have absolutely zero regrets about this decision. Quote:

Your GTP was build at the Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City - as were the Olds Cutlass Supreme and the Olds Intrigue. The Grand Prix was moved to Oshawa for the 2004 redesign after Olds was axed. The KC plant was then retooled for the Malibu and then the Epsilon-based Aura and Malibu. The new Eps-II 2010 Lacrosse will also be built in Kansas City - although it's smaller 2011 Regal counterpart will be built in Oshawa. Quote:

If I can unload this toy before their 0% financing offer ends I'm getting the G8 GXP. | Rolex... I just drove a brand new Pontiac G8 yesterday. However, it was "only" the 6.0L GT version - not the GXP. I was planning on writing a mini-review about it sometime soon, but I can definitely say this... It is one hell of a fine handling car - definitely as good as, if not better than any BMW I've ever driven.
As far as the deals go... From what the dealer told me, you can either get the 0%/72mo financing along with a $500 dealer-only cash back - evidently depending on the dealer and how generous they are. Or if you opt for the standard 2.9% financing, he ran through all of the cash-back deals which all totaled came up to about $5000... GM clearly wants to sell these things based on how heavily incentivized they are! |

And you'd better hurry if you want a GXP...I didn't see any online here in NWA, Joplin or Ft. Smith -- there was 1 at each of the Tulsa dealerships. They may be hard to get relo'ed if they're that rare...
If you decide on one of the Tulsa ones, and your wife doesn't want to drive over to help you pick it up -- I will be glad to -- as long as I get to drive it back on the turnpike :-)

Well now, admittedly, it was an S500 Grand... How many miles did it have? As rare as those are, I would have thought it would have gone for more unless it had a lot of miles.
In any event, you need to teach us your Jedi mind trick to sell cars as well as you do. |

That '03 I drove had the moonroof, and it was much smaller than the moonroof in the S Class, probably half the length. Plus, it's one less thing to go wrong (not that it would) and cost me.
It's funny, I traded it in yesterday and got a call about it today. I told the guy to call my salesguy at Walser and buy it before they auction it off. He said he wanted to buy it and ship it out to his father in law in Phoenix, as he had one of those before and wanted another. Quote:

I have no doubt whatsoever that you have absolutely zero regrets about this decision. | This one was on carsoup, but not autotrader. I bet you searched Autotrader, not Carsoup. This one has BY FAR the lowest miles of any Regal GS in the area, and the nice thing about buying from the Walser family of dealers is that I get free oil changes for life, free car washes once a week, discounts on gas, discounts on different restaurants and movie theatres around, etc etc. Plus, by buying from a major dealer like this, I have more confidence in the car's overall condition because it had to pass a 117 point inspection. I have the invoice from that inspection....they spent $1600 to get it ready for sale. Quote: |

He said he had a GS Regal and his GTP had a lot more problems and wasn't built as well.
Here's the interior pics you asked for:
As my friend Evan said, "boy, this car sure doesn't have the legroom of the Mercedes."
It's got a nice big storage armrest back there, with HUGE cupholders (bigger than the front ones).
Simple, clean dashboard.
Easy to read instrumentation.
For some odd reason, it displays the weirdest exterior temperatures. It's usually in the 38-50* range, but sometimes it actually goes up to the ambient temp. I wonder if that's got anything to do with the fact they just replaced the HVAC control module?
I love this engine. Always have.
This is the only badge (well...aside from the GS badge) that would let any onlookers know what lies beneath. |

Truth be told, Thad, these cars were a steal at the new sticker price of $27,000. and when you consider you could deal them to a lot lower price.
After checking Ebay's completed sales list for the 320S it looks like you got about what people around the country are willing to pay for these cars at the present time. Their market price will probably continue to fall with the desirability of Mercedes in general. So you were very wise to move on to a more affordable, yet fun, car. |
