If the employees don't perform and work with management and the owners then there will be no company to work for. Employees are the vehichle by which the company makes or loses money. Management is driving the bus and in this case they screwed up royally. 20, 30 years ago we all bad mouthed the Japanese companies because they had the unfair advantage that they were secretly underwritten by their government, and that they had unfair tarrifs on American cars. Isn't this what we are being asked to do?0

Capitalism works. The only time that it hasn't worked is when government has interfered with the process. Why is that now whenever there is a perceived problem that we all look to Washington to make it better. In the old days they said to pick yourself up and start again.

Ask the states that have "foreign" assembly plants if they think that we should bailout Detroit. If this is pushed through it will not be the will of the people, but an example of the power that a select few politicians now wield.

A truth that has apparently been forgotten by the senior managememnt of many American companies and their Boards of Directors. The high salaries and additional compensation in the form of stock bonuses and stock options, not mention cash bonuses has come at the expense of the shareholders, the true owners of the corporations. The dilution of shareholder equity and the bleeding of funds that could be paid as dividends to shareholders, regardless of managements performance and production of the corporations profits, has seriously undermined the integrity of the American capitalist system. This along with the lack of integrity of the accounting industry have gravely undermined confidence in our capital markets.

Im with you, some of the longstanding profitable companies that still pay no dividend is pretty shocking

Re: To all who love toyota< admire toyota and think they are a breath of fresh air

All the bickering aside, I think one thing that has not been mentioned during this whole bailout this, GM this, Toyota that is a very simple thing. Something that I think the American public does not know or maybe they don't care about.

The Military needs the Big 3. You see I work in the business of making sure our Submarine fleet is ready to go. Toyota, Honda and the rest of the import companies cannot make parts for our equipment. They are not allowed to. I cannot even purchase simple items such as bolt from a company that is foreign owned. I am not allowed.
A lot of the companies that supply the Big 3 would also go under if they left, these same companies supply the military.

What would do you suppose would happen if we had no logistical support for our militray? GM, Ford and Mopar don't only make cars. Just a thought.

and ah oh yeah, wouldn't be me if I didn't tell you Toyota sucks.
