I get sick whenever I read in the AMA magazine about people who do things like that and get off scot-free.
People kill motorcyclists and the law almost gives them a prize.
We are all just menaces anyway afterall.

The one I'll never forget is the illegal immigrant that rear ended a couple on their touring bike and pushed them down the road for almost 1/4 of a mile until the bike lit on fire and it killed both of the people on the bike. I think she actually did get a ticket though.
Maybe a $100 fine?

Apparently if you ride a bike your life is meaningless to the court system.

Oh and on an actual topic related note, my son and I had a blast going to sit on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to watch the fireworks, it was awesome and we were home way before I thought we would be

Glad you were able to take your son for the fireworks on the Mall. I am sure it will be something to remember for therest of his life. The show fireworks show was really spectacular this year. There is something to be said for mass transit.

Actually I only got home quick because I was able to squeeze us into the car and my son is not afraid of confined spaces... really.
It was awful but I knew there was no way we could have driven and been home the same weekend

I picked a station that no one ever thinks of and we slid right on, but man when we transferred to the orange line? Whoa! It was PACKED!
If there had been 3 of us we wouldn't have made it, but despite the rain my son and I shared a very special event together. It meant so much to me and he really had fun.
I know this is the first year he'll remember the fireworks and we have lots of memories

Yes, but other than that, and a totalled 6 yo Lexus SUV, she did not get anything else. I live in a no fault state. As such, my medical insurance company pays for my medical bills. Now I got a setllement from her auto insurance company equal to the limits of her policy...but, here is the kicker... my medical insurance company is allowed to file a lien against the settlement for up to the amount that they had to pay out. In other words, the lawer got 1/3 of the settlement first and my medical insurance company gets the rest. I get bent over...oh...and a foot that will never be right again...

The tool who hit me doesn't have anything to go after civilly. She's a R/E broker and apparently has not weathered the R/E slump well at all...

She has a Lexus, and if she ain't living in a cardboard box she should be forced to find a way to compensate you for what you are going through.
I'd call her every day and remind her of what you are going through.
At least once a week anyway.
