The ONLY hope of sending a message with actual results is the same unrealistic uniform boycott of the largest oil company Exxon/Mobile and dont buy ANY of their gas EVER. Problem is they are turning RECORD hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars in profits so in reality your sticking it to the independent gas station franchisee who is struggleing by on his own. The hope is the gas station owners would be forced to pressure the big boy execs into cutting into those profits and giving Americans a break at the pump.
Not buying on 1 particular day does NOTHING. |

Not buying on 1 particular day does NOTHING. | Make it a week. Take public transportation, don't buy gas, rided your bikes...etc. Chicago transit authority charges $2 1ride, $2.25 three rides to get around. Now I work 28miles from my job so my car gets 18 mpg. Gas $4 a gallon. I can take public transportation for $4.50 both ways instead of say $12 driving. Not to mention that if you get a all day card, you ride all day for $5. |

Cadillac(s): None | | Join Date: Dec 2002 Location: West Palm Beach, Florida Age: 38 | | | Re: Gas Strike: Friday, May 2, 2008 I only buy gas from BP now... I used to use Mobil and Texaco - but I gave that up. I hope I'm doing my part... The one day gas strikes don't do anything, however...

I bought gas 2 days ago, I won't do it again for about 2 more weeks.
(maybe get gas in the bike tomorrow)
I buy it when I need it.
They still get my money. Doesn't matter the date.
I agree and I have said it before, the only way to effectively lower the price is not to use it.
Some good ideas above on how to do that.

| | Cadillac Owners Connoisseur Cadillac(s): Maggied 2004 CTS V Black Raven cause its faster | | | | | Re: Gas Strike: Friday, May 2, 2008 I live 24 miles from work and there are ZERO options for public transportation between my house and my work. My wife goes to school 20 miles in the OTHER direction so this is about as central a location as I can get.
BTW, Im not bitching about gas prices. I need it, I buy it. I bought a car that eats gas but I also have a decent job so this isnt really a big squeeze on my household like it is on others and I do feel for those that it does. I do however have NO SYMPATHY for the ones bitching while holding a cigarette and a cup of Starbucks. Get your priorities in line.
Personally I find it amazing that they can drill multiple empty holes in the ground all over the planet, some miles under the ocean floor and retrieve raw oil from a few, transport it to a refinery, turn it into petrol, transport it to my station and sell it for $3.50 a gallon.
I have seen hotels sell a litre of WATER for $10. I have seen a gallon of milk for $7.50 (both in the US) and I know how easy it is to procure BOTH of those things. Fuel is one of the least inflated items in the market over the last 30-40 years. |

Doesn't make one whit about Monday, Thursday, or Saturday. Every car in America won't stop fueling on 2 May, so any drop in the tankage rate doesn't show up anywhere. However, if the tankage rate went to zero nationwide for a week, then we're beginning to see a crack of sunlight in clouds of dawn. Americans will never buy into that: We're too selfish.
Bardstown, KY ???? Heck, you guys can run bourbon cheaper than gas !!!!! (....relatives in Fairfield) |
