| | | Re: Gas Strike: Friday, May 2, 2008 I'll be participating too but not because I choose to, because I don't need gas.
I bought gas 2 days ago, I won't do it again for about 2 more weeks.
(maybe get gas in the bike tomorrow)
I buy it when I need it.
They still get my money. Doesn't matter the date.
I agree and I have said it before, the only way to effectively lower the price is not to use it.
Some good ideas above on how to do that.

| | | Re: Gas Strike: Friday, May 2, 2008 I live 24 miles from work and there are ZERO options for public transportation between my house and my work. My wife goes to school 20 miles in the OTHER direction so this is about as central a location as I can get.
BTW, Im not bitching about gas prices. I need it, I buy it. I bought a car that eats gas but I also have a decent job so this isnt really a big squeeze on my household like it is on others and I do feel for those that it does. I do however have NO SYMPATHY for the ones bitching while holding a cigarette and a cup of Starbucks. Get your priorities in line.
Personally I find it amazing that they can drill multiple empty holes in the ground all over the planet, some miles under the ocean floor and retrieve raw oil from a few, transport it to a refinery, turn it into petrol, transport it to my station and sell it for $3.50 a gallon.
I have seen hotels sell a litre of WATER for $10. I have seen a gallon of milk for $7.50 (both in the US) and I know how easy it is to procure BOTH of those things. Fuel is one of the least inflated items in the market over the last 30-40 years. |

| | | Re: Gas Strike: Friday, May 2, 2008 Not the case.......in order to lower demand, stop using gasoline/petroleum altogether. Doesn't make one whit about Monday, Thursday, or Saturday. Every car in America won't stop fueling on 2 May, so any drop in the tankage rate doesn't show up anywhere. However, if the tankage rate went to zero nationwide for a week, then we're beginning to see a crack of sunlight in clouds of dawn. Americans will never buy into that: We're too selfish.
Bardstown, KY ???? Heck, you guys can run bourbon cheaper than gas !!!!! (....relatives in Fairfield) |

Probably not a permanant fix (until you have to do it again) but it is something. Oil companies understand one thing. MONEY. Taking it away from them is the ONLY thing they will understand. |

Most oil companies are publicly traded so their stock can be purchased to get some return on your purchases. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
