I didn't actually tour the prison. If we had another day in the city we would have taken a tour of the prison. I heard some local scuttle butt about a guy from England that chipped off a hunk of the wall for a keepsake, got caught and fined $15k.

I don't personally care for large cities. San Francisco is rich in culture and you could probably spend a week there and not see everything. I would have said the same thing about pre Katrina New Orleans. It was a city rich in culture and had a lot to see, but not my cup of tea. I preferred the quiet countryside with rolling hills and grape vines to the busy and crowded city. I think my wife likes the city a little more. Different strokes for different folks. That's what makes the world go around.

Looks like fun.

How was the S500? How did it feel to be riding in the Chadmobile?

Ha, I knew you'd be able to appreciate those pics. You're the reason I took them. It was a truly great car. I noticed his rear windows have 2 panes of glass. What's with that?

Re: Vacation pics *56k death*

Thanks!

The reason behind the dual pane glass is it makes the car quieter, insulates better against the ambient temps, and helps prevent fogging up in inclement weather.

What year was his? It looks like a 1995 or 1996. I just wish mine had the big 315hp 5.0L DOHC V8....not the smallish 228hp I-6.

I lived in New Orleans for 7 years (92-98) and LOVE the city. It is a dump. It is run by crooks and idiots. It is crime ridden and filthy. All that said I still love to visit. I love the debauchery and its hedonistic ways. I love the music and the most especially the food. New Orleans is the only city where the taste is more important than the appearance of the food at our table.

It is a tragedy what happened and continues to happen in NOLA but I also know that there is no other group of people that love their home more and will make it bounce back regardless of the odds.

I could spent a month in NOLA just bar hopping and eating at different GREAT restraunts, from 5 star fare to hole in the wall po-boy shops.

Probably true of most large cities. But a proud few are rich with culture, good food, and a few notable sights to see. NOLA and SF are a couple that come to mind.

My mother's entire family were from NOLA. It was a special place to me too but still not my cup of tea when it comes to vacations.
