As a news blog it's kind of our job to bring you tidbits like this, but it doesn't make it any more tantalizing, especially when we know the maelstrom of dumb things like this can cause. But here it goes: Thanks to the denizens of this forum thread, we now know that the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV runs at 640p, as compared to the Xbox 360's 720p *ducks*.

Before you start hunting for your fancy pitchfork, let us remind you that until 17 seconds ago this problem didn't bother you at all. And because of some of the processing effects, some people even insist that the PS3 version looks better to them! But hey, if you need something to get angry about, far be it from us to take that from you.

PS3 network goes down

While we've been playing Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox Live for hours now, our pals over at PS3 Fanboy have had less luck. The gang -- meta moment alert! -- grabbed a cell phone and snapped a photo of the game's cell phone, specifically, the "error" message pictured above, confirming reports that the online multiplayer component of the PlayStation 3 version of GTA IV has not been accessible today (though it was last night, apparently). To be clear, this does not appear to be a network-wide issue; PSN seems to be functioning properly otherwise. Someone go give those Rockstar servers a good hard kick, will ya?

We'll update the post once multiplayer is back online.

CO-OP isn't really CO-OP

on the back of the box it says 2-4 player co-op, usually this mean 4 people can play the game together. not the case. So far the Rockstar site doesn't have anything just says coming soon and the closet thing we can do is hangman's noose.

So the game doesn't really have co-op. You can still play together online, you just can't do missions together.

Not to sound like I'm whining about it, ok, maybe I am just a little bit, but they need to release it for the Wii.

Nintendo wouldnt allow a game this violent on its family-friendly console. They have a happy niche.

lol that will never happen! The PS3 and 360 are Ferrari's.....the Wii is a Pontiac Fiero with a Ferrari body kit on it. It just doesn't have enough

I agree however they did release Bully on the wii. But hardware wise the wii can't handle it.

When I get a PS3.... why PS3? Not just GTA4, which is also on the 360, but Gran Tursimo series, which is only PS3.... thats why I supposed my old Sanyo 25" TV with only a coax cable input woudln't do either....

Hence why I do not have one now, and said it'll be quite a long time until I do.

video games don't appeal to me like they used to... I haven't played my PS2 in probably a year... and my PSP.... I don't even use that, I got a laptop for traveling, not it just sits... it's a great device, but I only use it for playing MP3's in the car... shoulda just got a dedicated MP3 player.... ah well.
