The HHR SS will be a great choice. Plenty of room inside it, bucket-loads of get-up-and-go, fun to drive, good on gas while you're having all that fun, and the fact that the SS is an upmarket model takes care of all the little nags with the HHR (such as upholstery that will sand the skin off your ass, somehwhat cheap fittings on the base model, and lack of power in the base model, though it's still pretty quick).
The Cobalt SS is basically the same in a car-shaped package. Pick which you like and which fits your needs. Cobalt is a go-fast car, HHR is a go-fast small truck. You can do lots more with the HHR but the Cobalt is a car.
The Dodge, I'd stay away from. They have gotten very mixed reviews and I've not had all that good luck with low market Chrysler products. Their high-end shit is very nice but this is not that.
I'd drive a Yugo before I drove a Honda. I just can't stand them, and their cars, and the mentality of people who drive them. No Honda.
