Hey everyone, sold the CTS

Remove this ad
For anyone that remembers me, over the last year I've been trying to sell my CTS and buy a Corvette. Well, finally got the CTS sold and I am now officially looking for a Corvette. I'll probably get an 05 because I really want a C6. Locally they have very few and are still selling 05s in the mid 40s, I know of places that have sold them in the mid to upper 30s with low mileage and thats about what I am willing to pay. Wish me luck all.

Hey Ian, you still in Florida? I may go up to DC or around that area because I've seen some awesome deals. Got a link to a dealership?

Re: Hey everyone, sold the CTS

Autotrader.com and Cars.com are your friend in this, as well as Ebay.

Specifically on Autotrader, even put in your year, mileage, colors, transmission, price, etc. and see what you find. Should be NO problem at all to find a used C6 at a great deal, now. And always keep an eye on Ebay for cars in various locations, and of course, Cars.com.

And good luck!

Re: Hey everyone, sold the CTS

Sounds like you might be taking a road trip. Heck why not buy one at a sweet price and fly out and drive it home. =)
It will give you a great time to bond with your new pride and joy.

Best Regards,

Thomas Carey

If you are going to the DC area, talk to Sub about the auctions in the area. Seems like their are some extraordinary deals to be had!

I have, nothing much in my area. A few places have them in the mid 40s, but if I wanted to pay that, a local dealership has an 07 for 46,9k. A lot of dealers overcharge in this area. So, I'll have to look further away for a better deal.

Re: Hey everyone, sold the CTS

Go big or go home I say. Get on the ZR-1 list

I just did a quick search, and around here you can get an '05 automatic w/ 18,371 miles for $33,987, or an '05 6 speed w/ 9,006 miles for $35,800.

No way in hell I could afford a ZR1. I know, they are supposed to go for that around here as well, but they don't. Almost everyone around here has them priced from 38-44k. Its ridiculous. Thats why I am having to look further away to get one. Oh well, I have 2 months to find one, if not then I'll settle for a C5.

Re: Hey everyone, sold the CTS

Hey Adam, long time no visit, nice to hear from ya again!

I'm about as big on Corvettes as you are big on my S-Class, but I *finally* got to drive (and I mean actually drive) a Corvette yesterday, and I had fun. It was a black/black '03 or '04 Coupe with that optional glass (Targa?) top and the four speed automatic. Wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but man oh man was it fast! Sixty would come up on you in the blink of an eye...it was almost too fast for me, but shit that was fun! Good old fashioned high profile, American made, V-8 powered fun!

Personally, I'd hold out for a C6. To me, and the Corvette diehards may disagree with me, it's like Chevy went 100% on the C6, but only like 85% on the C5. It just looks much better inside and out, is faster, more contemporary looking, and it's got features and amenities the C5 could only dream of. But many C5s out there are much more affordable and are still quite hot.

Well, best of luck to you in your purchase and have fun!

Re: Hey everyone, sold the CTS

I personally really like the looks of the C5 better, but the interior of the C6 is what wins me over in the end.

The C5 looks better to me as well. I think its the rear end of the C6 I dont like. It is nicer inside and has more power though. Tough call but I'd rather spend less and get the C5.

Hi Chad. Yeah, these cars are fun as hell. No such thing as too fast. I'm holding out for the C6, which I think is a better all around car.

I'm more on the looks of the C6, a lot more exotic looking and a lot more handsome if you ask me. Plus the LS2 and LS3 are great engines. And the interior, I couldn't agree more, I think its great looking.
