That I joined the ranks of the american luxury car owner and purchased my '95 Roadmaster Limited Sedan. 4/17/04.

God, I miss that car. We had some great times.

Here's a picture of me with it the day I bought it.

Re: It was four years ago today....

I gotta be honest, I like that car better than your Mercedes! Why don't you have that car anymore?

Re: It was four years ago today....

A number of reasons really, all were pretty minor and fixable when I look back at it now. The main thing that bugged me about that car was how the faux woood trim pieces on the doors could never stay attached. Heck, even the door panels were loose on the doors. It was either abused or just wasn't built well, at all. I could have easily remedied that problem with nothing more than crazy glue, but I was just too lazy back then. I used to drive the car real hard, especially in the first few months I had it, so by about the 3rd or 4th month of ownership, it had acquired a "clunk" in the drivetrain somewhere that would happen when I was coming out of a corner under moderate to heavy acceleration when it shifted. I wasn't sure if it was in the rear end or transmission, so I got scared and sold it. There were a few other things I couldn't change...first of all, the size. At 215.8" long and 78.3" wide, it was HUGE, especially for a smallish guy like me, and especially as his first car. Secondly, I *hated* the Burgundy leather interior. It was just too much of the same color.... If it was a tan leather, then I would have liked it a lot more, but no Burgundy.

Re: It was four years ago today....

At least the paint held up on your first car. My first, a 1996 Lincoln Continental was phenomenal in EVERY way, except for the shitty Ford black paint that all black Fords suffered from around that time. Clearcoat was worthless. It is ironic that paint done right can cost as much as a new engine, transmission, or both. So I just got rid of it for 500 bucks on a trade.

But you could have gotten Maaco for $250 and sold it for $1800. Maaco jobs last at least 8 months.

When my mom started driving in the US she used phone books and pillows. On top of that, it was a SENTRA!

I wish somebody took a picture of me behind the wheel of the '57 Chrysler we had. That would be funny to see.
