EDIT: Turns out the website edited the article since it was first put out. Here's what it said originally at the very end of the article. Quote: |
Neil also reveals that NBC and the BBC are aware that aping the original Top Gear's no-holds-barred reviewing style could piss off the media company's automotive advertisers– and devised a solution. "They're writing around the problem, by not doing car reviews unless they really love the car." Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on finding Neil's replacement. Anyone heard anything?

The downside is that the hosts for Top Gear in the UK will have nothing to do with the American version. Adam Corrolla alone guarantees the shows failure |

| | | Re: Well the American version of Top Gear has already failed So no reviews unless they really love the car ??
So I guess no show whatsoever then.
Even with Top Gear on BBC, I dont think Ive seen them give a full thumbs up on any vehicle that they have tested.
Except for maybe one ?? Eventually....
I cant recall the name of the vehicle. But its the only car that The Stig has ever lost control of. He went off the track and through a tire wall. Tore up the carbon fiber on the front end pretty good.
They commented that if there was a back fin/scoop, then it would handle better, and probably become the fastest for there track.
Amazingly !! The company took there advice, put one on, and gave them the car back Sure enough its now at the top.
Other than the return of that vehicle, Ive never seen them give any vehicle a full thumbs up. No matter how much any of them like a vehicle. They always make sure they are thorough, and let the viewers know as much as possible about all aspects of the vehicles they test.
They go from price, right down to the ease of the radio controls, and the fabrics used.
Its a truly informative show with no holds barred.
Anything else would be an insult and a waste of time. Nothing more than.....like stated earlier....an infomercial.
If they dont want to do it right and true to its form. Then they shouldnt even consider the idea. |

Top Gear is MUCH better suited as it is now with Clarkson, Hammond, and May. Those three, plus the European atmosphere, amazing cinematography, and wit of those three, is what give the show it's character. |

Can you imagine Adam Corrolla trying to do that challenge when they crossed the English Channel on their car boats? The other thing is that those guys on Top Gear UK have big time driving back grounds so are they going to have Corrolla test driving these cars and actually listening to what the hell he has to say about it? |

Forgot about that
I dont see a problem with the motor companies having there vehicles tested and rated true to form for the viewing consumer. They should listen to it !!
Its not as though they ever truly bash a vehicle. They cover everything. Sure one may not compare to another with horsepower.......but look at the price difference.....
I think they do a great job and are very fair.
IE : The Mustang GT was the only super car that was able to get out of the parking garage unassisted LOL | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
