GT-R Spec V does Ring in 7:25

Nissan GT-R V-Spec lap times stun observers

Quote:
The prototype Nissan GT-R V-Spec, wearing the "Victory Specification" designation reserved for the ultra high-performance Nissan GT-R, has been caught lapping the famed Nürburgring at an incredible, if not simply unbelievable, 7:25 per lap. This, according to bystanders trackside. (For comparison, Walter Röhrl lapped the Ring in 7:28 while driving a Porsche Carrera GT in 2004.)

In contrast to the standard Nissan GT-R, that made the run around the 'Ring in 7:38, the GT-R V-Spec has a new front splitter, modified rear spoiler, and different wheels. A more extensive use of carbon fiber has reportedly reduced the weight by upwards of 330 pounds. Of course, Nissan engineers also tweaked the twin-turbo powerplant for another 70 horses... or so. Thanks for the tip, XeroK00L!

The new Nisson has been putting down some serious number but it doesn't do much for me. Make mine red, make mine Corvette.

Re: GT-R Spec V does Ring in 7:25

Those are undeniably impressive numbers. The V-Spec is roughly estimated at 550hp and 3500 lbs. (much lighter and more powerful than the street version we will see here).

Thought this was pretty cool:

Really makes me wonder what the new V will be capable of at 550hp and 4200lbs... (GMs been pretty tight lipped about it's Nurburgring times)

Rumors are circulating that the ZR1 has the ability for a 7:24 and will pull the rug out from under the GT-R. My guess is that GM will not allow the car to be released until it happens.

That's what I have been hearing as well. Also there will be a third edition of the GT-R called the Club Sport or something like that which will be slotted between the base model GT-R and the Spec V.

I always think those cut aways are cool as hell. I wonder how they do that?

I'm anxious to see what the new V will be capable of as well. I'm guessing in the 7:4x range.

Traction is going to be the ZR1's biggest issue especially with all of the Ring's turns and negative G turns

This looks to me to be the result of a contested divorce.

Impressive numbers! Looking forward to seeing this car in real life on a track. The idea of owning one still bores me to death.

Gothicaleigh, great picture, I always love those too!

Blackout, if the last gen is any indication, there will be alot more then 3 variations
