Nothing to do with the car's country of origin. After reading your post on the R&R procedure, it makes more sense, but really! Since it's covered on your warranty, I suggest subtle sabotage. Think of it as preventative care, not least of your bank account.

How does one sabotage a A/C Evaporator? Not that I'd ever dream of damaging any part of a car I own.
