Cadillac Forums: Freakishly smart, How dumb is our generation?
I remember getting a 97 on my terra nova. What did that do for me? Nothing really
It did something for me, more of something personal, but proved all the teachers that said i was a dumbass and would never get into that school because i was so stupid WRONG.
On the other hand, i DID get kicked out for defending a dead man, but i wont get into that.
My grandpa died a few weeks before the incident, kid said he was because he was in the marines, deserved to die, and was a *******, i shoved him against a wall after he threw a punch at me right after this and a few seniors in was friends with pounced on him with me and beat the crap out of him after that. I got kicked out because the kids dad donated a shitload to the school in actuality, but the reason i was kicked out was because i started a major fight (over 10 people)
AMGoff is a simple stuffed shirt and he knows it. It doesn't make him a bad guy.
Flattery will get you nowhere, my friend...

I didn't have to take the SAT, but I got a modest 25 on my ACT. I did get a 34 on the English part though
All those K-12 standardized tests do is give a vague picture as to where a kid is along in his learning development... it isn't worth a hill of beans though simply because most schools fail to take a proper course of action after the results.
A 34 is pretty spiffy on your ACT verbal... I take it you applied to a school out in the midwest? It's mainly on the coasts that the SAT is preferred. I never took the ACT, simply because I didn't have to. Took the SAT twice though, once in seventh grade and then again (for real) in the eleventh grade.

So then you're saying that you were indeed the reason as to why you were thrown out of that school?

Yeah, I go to DePaul University. Management major, Marketing minor. I applied to Marquette too when I looked at colleges, but Milwaukee just seems boring.

DePaul's a private Catholic school, right? I'm pretty sure I had a friend go there for their post-grad work. Congrats on getting accepted, from what I know they're a fairly selective school. The only thing I can recommend to you is to get a minor (or hell, even a double maj. - that's what I ended up doing) in something completely unrelated to your (main) major, not only will it give you a different field to fall back on if need be, but it will make you much more marketable... I know I actually ended up doing something completely unrelated to what I went to college for!
I know I'm about knee-deep in all of this pre-admissions stuff right now. My oldest nephew is a junior this year so the wife and I are really trying to help get all of his stuff together. Both of his parents didn't go to college, while they're helping with what they can, they're really in the dark with regard to all of the little details involved. I'm just shocked at how much the tuition and all of the various fees have gone up across the board in the past 17 years... While you young guys have it a lot easier in many respects, that's one thing I feel a little sorry about for you all - the price of a decent education is just astounding.

Back in the day, anybody could earn enough money with a summer job to pay for a years schooling at a state college. $1000 a semester would pay for books, fees, and room and board in the dorm. You didn't pay tuition unless you were a non-resident. There was no cheaper way to spend the winter months. Along came federal student loans, the money supply for education exploded, and so did the cost of a college education. One of the unintended consequences of free government money.
