I like Ubuntu as well. The only issue, for me, was wireless connectivity...

I run Tristix for my server at home but form what I understand with some buyouts going on Trustix will soon be Debian.
Same difference anyway. Different distros put stuff in different places and turn on different services by default. It's all the same kernel.
I was a RedHat fan for years but when they commercialized it took all the fun and open source ethics out of it. I ran RedHat from 4.0 all the way up to 7.2
Ubuntu is the answer for desktops for sure.
