OMG - OMG - OMG - I think you're lying. No one who owns a V1 can get a ticket because it is the most bad azz detector on the market. Don't believe me ? Just go look in the V forum and search anyone wanting to get a detector, all the V1 owners will give you the straight skinny on how marvelous it truly is and how it even detects UFOs before they zap you with their 9 second time stopping ray
Driving down to Ennis last weekend on the infamous I45 I eyballed a LEO over off the road in his crown vic, (at least at distance my old eyes saw what looked like a crown vic and I assumed LEO) So I cut off the cruise, set to 75 in a 60 and began to coast down. About 3-4 seconds later my Laser detector goes off and I now see the LEO jump in his crown vic and come running back up the access road and jump across the ditch to get on the highway and began to accelerate behind on up. As he gets behind several cars in our group his lights come on and he zeros in on a White Mercedes S550 coming up in the left lane behind me and pulls him over. My detector was worthless in this case, if I hadn't been paying attention and watching I almost certainly would have been the one getting the ticket. Instant on type systems with a trained LEO is almost impossible to defeat if you are relying soley on a detector.
I just live down the street from there. I shall watch for Urby and do my civic duty--citizens arrest. By the way, once I stop Urby, what the heck do I do with him. Besides, he is probably bigger and uglier than I am????
very interesting. I know that Selma uses the new Dodge Chargers. Selma and/or Schertz have used LIDAR (laser) on overpasses above the IH-35 pointing down on the cars moving on that freeway (I have been singled out for a shoot, but not pulled over).
Note that a laser diffuser (jammer) can be used in TX and other states except about 4 or 5 states including CA. Depending on the laser gun model, the cop may be able to tell he is being jammed, which may not be illegal, but its not a way to stay "under the radar" the next time he sees you.
Also, one of these days there is going to be a runned-over selma cop and car if they keep hiding in the dark along the right and left shoulder or along the access roads almost in the roadway (same goes for SAPD)
I was suspicious once or twice about SAPD using laser. However, note that the laser detector can abruptly go off at times on a fluke when its not a police laser gun at all. I have been using radar (and later laser) detectors since I first started driving myself in 1987 and was very accustomed to them way before that. I have had a few fluke/false alarms even in the middle of nowhere. I think I read SAPD were experimenting with them at some point (which is a scary thought as laser is not like radar and is a sensitive tool.) Hopefully they arent "experimenting" with too many things while screwing with people's lives.
Hopefully they quit putting empty cop cars along 1604 that cause panic and car accidents.
I agree you must be vigilantely watching out. if they don't use the laser gun right it can read you over even 10mph and it happended to me once.
If the Radar Revenue Raisers would spend as much time in the east side and Walzem and such areas as they do tricking and trapping average driver motorists on ridicuous speed traps, the city would be a lot safer.
Out on Hwy 46, FM-2722, FM-306 areas you have 4 different police agencies in some parts running radar and you can hit 5 or more cops in 5 or 10 minutes of driving - after a lot of compaints they knocked off a lot of their bull the last few months. Don't even get started on the Bulverde police on 281 or Hwy 46- vile speed trap is putting it mildly.
[And, no I have never been pulled over or ticketed by any city police officer in TX so I am not moaning about my own ticket from sapd, selma, bulverde or any of those cities.]

Nope.

revive on this post: I hear that Selma is getting quite a few calls from residents about speeding on Lookout and Evans and will be "addressing" that issue. I have recently seen them sitting back off the road all over Lookout and of course up in the church parking lot on Evans watching where it drops to 30/school zone. I see at least one Selma officer every weekday morning.
