Re: Peel P50 Ultra-Mini Car -- Top Gear (HILARIOUS)

That's pretty funny. I wouldn't get into one of those things for anything. IMO an open motor scooter would be a safer vehicle. At least on a scooter you could maneuver and be more nimble. That little thing looked like it was going to roll over going around a gentle curve.

Now take out the 49cc moped engine and replace it with a 1200cc crotch rocket engine, add a sway bar, and you'd be able to market that in the US.

Three wheels doesn't apear to be the best design for balancs. Perhaps a roll cage to.

Those T Rex are sweet. Don't those babies run like 70k or something rediculous?

Re: Peel P50 Ultra-Mini Car -- Top Gear (HILARIOUS)

In order to jump start car racing immediately after WWII in Europe an open wheel class was designed around 500cc single cylinder motorcycle engines. The old timers ridiculed this until Juan Fangio got in one and barreled off onto the track. The first corner he was off the track and upside down. He came walking back and remarked that it went a hell of a lot faster than he thought it would. At that point he was informed that it had a J.A.P. speedway bike engine in it that put out about 80 horsepower and the car weighed 500 lbs.
