I bought it and I must say simply amazing. I also noticed in the bonus features they make no mention of another company making those 09 Camaros. In fact Michael Bay claims they where provided by GM and there where only two of them.

Re: Transformers on HDDVD

I passed on this one - sorry to say I saw it in the Theatre and the false promo for another movie "Cloverleaf" was more interesting and had more of a plot than the main attraction!!

28 Weeks Later on Blue-Ray.... I enjoyed that one.

Looks like I am going to have to get a XBox 360 so I can swing both ways.

Re: Transformers on HDDVD

Michael Bay was only going off of info he was given. Garbage in, garbage out. Saleen made that Camaro from GTO.

I am holding off getting either HD or Bluray until I see who wins. I think it is going to be HD-DVD but one never can tell. And of course I have like 300 regular dvds already...

Re: Transformers on HDDVD

eh, I still waiting on blockbuster to send it to me......but ya HD DVD is the shiat...blu ray can suck it ....ok in all honesty I've watched the same movie on both and HD DVD looked better, blu ray was super grainy on some scenes and takes forever to load...besides I got the HD dvd for my b-day, so it was free I'm not gonna complain, it all looks good on a 60" sony 1080p

I think those of us with Blu-Ray will manage somehow... (probably by watching the dozens of other movies that are BR exclusive). Transformers is honestly the first new movie I have wanted that wasn't available on BR at release (and I can not think of any that had to cut down the audio quality due to current format limitations like was done to Transformers on HD-DVD ).

Not that there is anything wrong with HD-DVD. Most people will find it to be a very nice format.
Of course, most people are also content driving Chevys, while the rest of us prefer Cadillacs.

Re: Transformers on HDDVD

I don't think they cut down the audio the HDDVD version is also double disc the movie is exclusively on one disc.

It uses Dolby Digital Plus, not Dolby True HD. The reason cited has been the storage limitations of HD-DVD. You have a hi-def image with CD quality sound.

Not to worry though, Paramount will eventually come to the same realization as everyone else in the film industry and we will have a true hi-def Transformers on Blu-Ray. It's just a matter of time.

Re: Transformers on HDDVD

It is not a rumour. There is a story on it somewhere, google it and you will find it. There were only a few prototype camaros hand built by GM (they are all silver btw) and none of them were suitable for use in the movie.

so GM and dreamworks contracted Saleen Inc to convert a Pontiac GTO into a camaro. They simply made custom body panels and wheels to match the prototype. I cannot comment on the interior as I never read anything about it.
