Best automotive interiors ever?

Remove this ad
Here's my picks
In no specific order.

1988-94 Silverado/Sierra.
I love them because they're wierd, especially for a full size domestic truck.
Note the "crescent moon" guages on the 88-90 models.

Out of an '89 Silverado 1500. The 88-90s never had a tach, which is really wierd for a truck.

Digital manual climate control and two part radio design.

Overall layout. How very '80s.

This is out of a '94 Suburban Silverado. Note the "regular" guages. Now with tachometer!!

Uhh let's see, what else do I particularly like?

'08 CTS.
Probably one of GM's best interiors. Ever.

84-89 Corvette. How very '80s. Love the digital guages with bar graphs for vehicle and engine speed and the changable secondary guages.

1993-95 STS/ETC. It was such a drastic change from the previous Caddys...looked and felt Italian.

I'll have more later. It's bedtime now.

Re: Best automotive interiors ever?

With it coming down to the cars I have owned I'd say that the Mark VIII's interior was nicer then the FTS's

Re: Best automotive interiors ever?

The Mark VIII did have a pretty nice interior, but I really always loved the late model Buick Riviera interiors. Of course I'm not including the Seville STS because that would be biased. I am also leaving out exotic cars.

Re: Best automotive interiors ever?

What is up with the old truck and the C4 digital interior?. Those are some of the WORST IMO. The W140 Mercedes has one of the nicest interiors I have ever seen both aesthetically and functionally.

Re: Best automotive interiors ever?

I like the goofy GM 80s interiors, just for the hell of it, especially the digital madness of the C4. Its very period-correct.

Re: Best automotive interiors ever?

Well, seeing as I grew up with this colour combo, I'd
have to say a 1974-78 Imperial/New Yorker interior.
Definitely the nicest pillow tufter leather I've ever sat on.

Re: Best automotive interiors ever?

I for one love the digital gauges in the early C4 vettes. I hate steam gauges period -why do I want such an ancient display technology when something better has existed for 30 years, and why do automakers insist upon continuing with it?

The early Alantés looked like fighter jets!

Edit: found a brouchure image! Drool, you seething masses, drool!

Bitch, please. Are you a pilot? If not, you don't know what steam gauges are.

Re: Best automotive interiors ever?

I work very closely with pilots. I'm quite familiar with "Steam gauges" versus "Glass cockpits".

I love the Allante's instrumentation with the gunsight speedo and tach -- and all of those identically sized black buttons labeled with only WORDS in only ENGLISH!! No pictograms!!
