Cadillac Forums: The marvel of Ebay... comes through again.
I've been using ebay for several years now, and I have to say that overall I'm fairly pleased with it. I hear alot of negative talk about both buying and selling on ebay but today was another one of those days where I was just amazed at the saving power it gives you.
My newest toy is a JVC GZ-MG155 30GB Hard disk drive camcorder, a marvel of engineering which does away with tapes and discs completely, in favor of a 30gb hard drive to which all your footage is recorded, and can then be transported to a PC, sent to a DVD burner, or simply played back on the camera itself. It also has a 1 MP digital still functionality and a built in LED light, which is everything I needed for my new... ahem, "project".
I bought it COMPLETELY last minute since at the time I really needed it, so I did a quick search, went with an established seller, and pulled the trigger on a buy it now. The pictures were small, but the listing was fairly detailed, and these guys reputation was excellent. I was somewhat anxious that for the price I paid, I was going to get a real pile of bolts and crap with serious scratches or other damage, but the camera arrived today in EXCELLENT condition. It came with all its accesories and even the original manuals and CD's. 9 out of 10, and anyone who knows me knows I'm absolutely anal.
So heres the best part. This is a 2007 model camera, and second tier in JVC's 2007 lineup, it isn't even an old model!
Price Paid: 251.00 plus 25.00 shipping from California TOTAL: 276.00
Price at Circuit City: 599.99 *PLUS TAX*, so around 640.00
AMOUNT SAVED: $364.00
Now... for the SELLING side of the token...
I recently had purchased a LG VX-9400 TV phone, about two months ago. Well, that phone is a Verizon one, and recently I had just gotten outright tired of their terrible pricing schemes, even WITH the 20% discount they give me.
The right opportunity finally came along to switch back to Sprint and get myself a Treo 755p Palm device. I got the palm because it worked well with all the bluetooth peripherals I use via Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking to get on the internet, and because the interface is leaps and bounds ahead of the Windows version, as well as having a sharper display that the Windows unit is unable to handle.
Anyway, I was now stuck with a cancellation fee with Verizon and no desire to pay it. Light goes off, I decide to see what this phone is going for on Ebay (the LG), and sure enough, its in excess of 200.00. So I throw it up for 240 bucks and long story short, within 3 days I sold it, and since I had Immediate Payment setup through paypal, the guys money is already in my account!
Ebay is not always perfect, but my overall success with buying and selling has been around 8.5 out of 10.

I just bought the 1974 Cadillac full line brochure off of ebay. Thank god for eBay and Paypal otherwise I'd have to wait until March to buy my classic brochures. And to top it off, I only paid $6 for it!

I've been ripped off twice. Nothing to expensive (as in nothing over 20 bucks). But now I only buy from sellers who's feedback is over 500 strong and has a feedback rating of 99%.
I'm having a lot of luck with ebay myself. Picked up a new box for my 2 12's for $15 this morning. Needed it for the 2 12's I bought for $10ish total I bought through the same seller. All brand new open box returns from Best Buy. Great seller.

I have bought and sold alot from eBay, made alot of $$... but I bought a car on eBay recently and I am going to have to take the seller to court.. Paypal and eBay are no help. However, I have the FBI on my side (internet fraud), and I am taking time from my busy schedule to make sure I get my deposit back and waste alot of the sellers time and money. That bastard!!
</end rant>

Yea the reason I rated it 8.5 of 10 was that back when the counterfeit Cashiers Check scam was JUST starting, I got taken for 2000.00 on a Rolex. I reported it to the California police and they already had a laundry list of similar complaints against that individual. Also had a car not quite as described once, and in 1999 or 2000 I bought a shitty computer monitor as well.
When you're saving 50, 100, 500 and even thousands of dollars at a time versus retail or local though, the "bad" things get erased pretty quickly.

Unless you are me... who never loses, my ego is making me take this one incident to the extreme just for spite and pride.
Well, lets just say the item that I had originally acquired which I sold to BUY the Rolex I lost, wasnt exactly a straight up deal... so it was basically instant Kharma.
