Its looking alot better but, "Service Now" light came on last night and there was a LOUD tick coming from the motor...
May be rollin' a '78 Buick Century with the 5.0 until that tick gets diagnosed.

I am *so* sorry, I have not taken pictures of my car yet. I know, I hear the whining and boo's & hisses. I know it's really far-fetched, heh heh, but my real life (you know, all the stuff that happens when not on this forum) has been SO busy! Hard to believe, I know.
I had a 3 day conference from Thurs.-Sat. April 19-21st, was busy with church and lunch with friends afterward on Sunday. Monday I had insurance and DMV woes to work out & Tuesday I had a day appointment, shopping to get done, and a party at night for a friend who is moving to Brooklyn. Today I spent amping up my job search, and inquiring about applying for a job I really really want.
So, I can only promise that once I finish this latest round of my real life priorities, I will take the pictures and post them. I was also hoping to find time to take it to a car wash and get it all spiffy before taking pictures. I have been cleaning it myself, but I'd like it to get the deluxe treatment. Especially since it's White, it seems to be a magnet to coatings of Spring pollens, dust, dirt, road grime, etc.
Plus, one other really unwelcome form of soiling...grrr!!! -- My old car was a deep metallic dark red, and I did get some bird visits, but not nearly as much as now. Why on earth does my white car attract so much bird crap! Jeez, they seem to think it's their target. I came out one morning, and there were like 10 bombs all over my car!!! Gah! What really pissed me off was the droppings on the Midnight Blue/Dark Navy cloth top. What a drag! I cleaned it the best I could, but eww, and it really is tough to get out of dark fabric. Anyone have a cloth top, and some cleaning secrets?
The only reason I'm even here right now is I went to bed early (very unlike me, as I'm typically nocturnal) and I woke up in the middle of the night.
Anyway, sorry for the no pics yet. But, ya know, you could always get offline, go outside in the sun and clean your car or something! |

Shit,i posted pictures of my Brougham when it didnt have bumpers. No one cares if you have some bird doody on your whip. |

I know, took me long enough. My life has seriously been whirlwind busy lately. These pictures aren't perfect, and the car still needs some spiffing up. For one thing I want to get new mats, the ones that came with the car look too worn out from the prior owner. I love my car though. It's not perfect, but it's mine, and I'm happy with it. |

Well, as for the "Islander" name on the top, I don't know what it is either! I had asked everyone in the Eldo thread if they had ever heard of it, and no one seemed to know either. It's kinda curious. It also says Islander on the back of the car, and has these stripe details down the side (which I notice are hard to see in the pictures, but when I am standing next to the car, it's easy to see the two stripes, one blue and one gold along the side, that seem to correspond to the Islander motif). It's kind of funny, since I do live on Long Island. Maybe now that it's here in this larger thread, someone will see it, and have an idea. *shrug*

Grilles, tops, wheels, luggage racks, Continental kits, pinstriping, all different kinds of stuff. And your car being from Long Island, it would make sense that the dealer had some sort of "Islander" package. Just makes it that much more unique. |

I like that it's different. In fact, I like my car enough that when I have some extra money to spend on it, I am going to get all the body damage fixed from the prior owner's accident. I would really like to get it into the best condition it can be in.
The rims are also scratched up (looks like this person did not know how to drive judging from the condition of the rims...I mean, how did they scrape them so high up that the scratches are all the way in the center of the rims!? did they feel the need to drive up to things they could hit just to see if they could mess the heck out of the rims?!) Friggin' Idiots! As my pal Napoleon Dynamite would say.
Ah well. I still love my car, and I will bet it will look a lot better once I get it professionally cleaned inside and out. |
