Introducing myself from Australia :)

Remove this ad
Hi chaps,

I'm new to this forum in USA though have been on a couple of forums in
Australia my favourite has been http://calaisturbo.com.au where I offer
technical comment mostly on the VL Turbo Calais models as well as promoting
a product that fixes electrical fuse problems.

My ride is a 1986 VLCT (for VL model Calais Turbo) has a Nissan RB30ET 6 cyl 3L motor
and I run 10psi boost with a 3" exhaust. The car is mostly a daily driver though I try
to go country in Western Australia when I can and I manage quite good economy
of 9.58L/100km from Perth to Esperance of some 780Kms but only get 11 to 12 L/100Kms
in the city. Heres a picture of my ride when parked next to the beach at Trigg,
some 10Kms north of Perth on the edge of the pacific ocean:-

http://niche.iinet.net.au/Twins/VL_Beach.jpg

As you can see the car is on twin tyres, the 4 front ones are 125/85 VR 16 and the 4 rears
are 125/90 VR16. The rims are 5spoke single piece and made by Crimson Inc now part of Enkei.
I have about 30 rims and a pallet of new tyres only for sale in Australia to friends and trikes
and motorcycle side cars that use 16" flat profile tyres. There is an old advert for twin tyres
on the bottom of web page from my signature.

I work for myself as a freelance electronic engineer and mainly design around several
different types of microcontrollers in the paging and communications fields but have also
done a power system upgrade in the jungles of Sabah for a remote community
and designed switchboard controllers and stationary diesel genset starter controllers.

Here is a link to some general pictures:- http://members.iinet.net.au/~erazmus/Power/

Some 3 years ago I designed a fix for the electrical problem that plagues the VK, VL
Holden commodore models over here in Australia, the original moulding which I am
told comes from USA suffers from warpage and sometimes can even melt.
Our summer temperatures can be 46 deg C and with all the engine mods people do to
their turbos causes lots of underbody heat and the copper fuse holders lose springiness.

In the last 3 months I upgraded my design following customer feedback
and amended the cosmetics so its more suitable for project restorations
and for people that want some help in diagnosing electrical problems,
my unit has fuse fail indication and other freatures, here is a pic:-

There is much more information on my web site on my signature link below
with an example installation here:- http://niche.iinet.net.au/more.html

The original holden moulding, I am told comes from USA and I am looking
around to find which Cadillac/GM models in USA used this and if the same sort of
problem has occured here, can someone point me to any US models/years ?
Here is the original one by GM but there are 3 variations which
are very similar, part numbers are 92017433, 92030036 and 92044799:-

Ideally I would like to find car restoration forums in USA that feature the
GM models mostly and offer this unit as an option for upgrades etc.

Hoping to do the right thing here, I'm wondering if it is ok to make a post
in the for sale section or which other section would be appropriate ?

Cheers and thanks for reading,

Regards

Mike

Re: Introducing myself from Australia :)

Hello....
OK. I gotta ask. What is the purpose of the dualies? Only thing I can think of is that it reduces the chances of accident due to catastrophic tire failure...
