I finally got my dream car in the 80's; a 1970 deville with a honkin 472. Then I got a couple 70's Sevilles and a 78 Coupe deville. I never get tired of riding in luxury.
I just recently stumbled upon a 92 sedan deville with a bad motor for very cheap. I didn't think a motor that started so easily could be bad and after searching this forum I found some very valuable info about the $2000 fuse under the dash. The one that makes the AC die at the same time and people think they need to replace the transmission because it takes off in 2nd gear. All the info about idle learn procedures are very helpful too.
I have been a mechanic for many years but I have never worked on any FWD Caddies. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of everything under that car and under the hood. It seems to actually be designed for easy maintenance. Mine has 183,000 miles on it and it looks like it has never been in a shop. It still has the original Packard Electric spark plug wires on it and runs perfectly now. If that car would have ever had a problem and been to a shop the first thing they would do is replace the plugs and wires.
I have been driving a Buick Park Ave the last few years and thought that was the height of luxury and just as good as a Caddie. I now see that the Caddie is a step above. GM doesn't cut corners on the Caddy like they do in the other divisions. Unfortunately I have to give this nice car to my son because he doesn't know how to buy cars and has bought about four disposeable cars in the past couple years. I'm going to tell him not to open the hood on this one and just put gas in it and drive it. Peace to my Caddy brothers and sisters.
