I am really impressed with the power of the northstar.I have read that there are two different engines as far as h.p.. How do I know which I have? Thanks forany and all help with this, glad to be a member of the club. G-Man

I believe yours is the 300hp motor. The DeVille and DHS have the 275hp.
Sounds like a real nice DeVille....I know I am in love with my 04 and its a base. Welcome and we really need some pics......

Are you sure? Wasn't the styling change in 05 where all the DeVilles were DTS with the different packages available? Let me look into that.

Nope I'm wrong. 2005 was still the 2000+ style which means the DTS has the 300HP VIN 9 engine. The DHS and base DeVille have the 275HP VIN Y engine.

Right? Anyone.

Starting In 06 all the DeVilles were called DTS with different levels of luxury and performance available. Luxury I, II and III then the performance package.

And I'm jealous that you found one in Crimson. How about some pics

youre right, all 2000-2005 were the same body style and were avaible in deville, deville dhs and deville dts

engine options were vin 9(8th digit) 300 hp 295lb/ft tq and vin y(8th digit) 275hp and 300 lb/ft tq (iirc)

if you have a dts you have 300hp

or you have a fake DTS or someone swapped a deville engine into a DTS
but thats unlikely

post some PICS!!!

anmd welcome to the board

This will be best answered in the detailing forum. Gary (turbomangt) has his own line of professional grade products and a very well put together DVD on detailing.

I have not personally seen the DVD but I will tell you that I swear by his products.
