: Anyone have a spare V emblem?

I had a minor incident that damaged my right front fender. Instead of dealing with a bodyshop or messing with paintwork, I bought a nice used black CTS fender to replace my damaged one. Worked out great except I now need the V emblem. I was going to try and heat my original emblem up with a heat gun to see if it would transfer over, but I'd rather have a new one instead. I figured I'd try here first before paying stealership prices.

If you have one, please email me at jkelchjr@yahoo.com

Thanks,

John

This is too funny! They're $40 on ebay! Just let him buy one! No offense JJKJ but it is only $40 and if you read the last thread on this...

Just too funny and too coicidental! I wouldn't even have the audacity to ask for one when I can buy one on ebay for so little. Sorry!

Maybe I should've asked you guys if you had a billet oil cap with the V logo in the center before I went and bought one on ebay! LOL

Have you guys seen the 'Take me off the list of dead differentials' thread? It was only 3 days ago and I never went into it but JJKJ and CVP were going at it pretty good! Both had some good points and in the meantime, I got a kick out of it!

Anyway, back the emblems! I did a little research and in checking the homepage for JJKJ there was a picture of a dude (must be JJKJ) and I could've sworn it was something I saw before, or someone rather! Point is, I have never seen a picture of any of you guys except when 2fitty sent some pics or I checked his profile or something and saw the same picture! Same guy!

Now, just in case I am wrong here I do apologize JJKJ but you guys do the same thing I did and search around and I think the two just may get linked together!

OP may not understand our joking...

JJ....some guy named 250 something has a plain CTS, came here and asked to buy some "embz". He said he had a V, but the "embz" were "jacked". So the V detectives figured out he was lying and wanted to badge his CTS. ahah. it was fun.

So understand our joking, I know you're legit. I think Igot can help ya :)

I didn't even think about the last thread when I posted this. I only read a couple posts of that thread, so I wasn't really thinking about the last fiasco.

I know they're not that expensive. However, without getting into a long story regarding the incident that caused my damage and how I'm now paying for it when I shouldn't and how it's already cost $300 out of my pocket, I was trying to keep further costs to a minimum.

Anyway, back the emblems! You know, I never paid any attention to the "homepage" link from our profiles. I have no idea where/who/how those pages are set up, but I'm guessing what ever is there must be the default setup. That'd probably explain why my photo is the same as someone else's. I haven't uploaded any photos of myself, so what is there, isn't me. So no link to 2fitty.

I know you guys are half-joking, but just to alleviate any doubt about the believability of my post, I have some pics below. As you can see, the damage was minor and almost all to the fender. I hate having paintwork done because they almost always seem to screw it up, especially black. So I searched around for a replacement fender in good condition. Found one at Nordstroms from an '06 CTS. A few minor light scratches that will buff out and I don't have to worry about paintwork, overspray, or leaving my car at the shop. Only took about 4 hours of easy work and it all came apart and back together pretty easy. Anyway, thanks to Igotmeav for the offer and here's the pics:

The before pic, it's kind of hard to see but at the front of the wheelwell opening, there's a dent about the size of a softball:

Here's the pic of the fender after it's been removed:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1/jkelchjr/IMG_1654Medium.jpg

And here's the new fender installed. I've already removed the '06 "GM" emblem on the bottom rear and I still have to do some polishing to the facia, but I feel fortunate I could avoid the bodyshop:

That original fender's going to look great hanging on your wall. Sure you don't want an SRT-8 emblem to go with it? J/K.

I'll hang it next to my '04 GTO hood that I replaced with an '05 hood. :)

No, I didn't follow the other thread, did 2fitty have a GTO as well? In late '04 I wanted a V but couldn't justify the cash the local dealer wanted for one since they were the hot new ticket according to them. GTO's were starting to sell real cheap and I went that route instead. My '04 got hit hard by a drunk driver in a parking lot ($10k damage) so I had it fixed and traded to an '05 GTO (can't stand damaged goods). I had the '05 for about 6 months before I decided it was time to pursue the desire for a V. Sold the GTO and bought found my V. Probably should've skipped the '05 GTO and went straight to the V, but hindsight is 20/20.

Still no connection to 2fitty, really.

We actually had two forum members that owned both GTO's and CTS-V's. You now make three. Ames was one of them. He bought my flamed engine cover for the CTS-V, good guy. Haven't seen him much online anymore.

Yea, I met Ames over on the GTO site. He planned a big gathering that I was going to attend in June '05. Unforunately though the Air Force had different plans for me and called me back to active duty for the current effort overseas. I never got to attend the gathering or meet him. I've seen him post here a few times.

Yea Urb, I did it myself. Are you talking about the painted screws on top (about 3 of them)? If so, I don't have a PN, I just re-used the ones I had. Some of the paint chipped off them when I removed them, so I had to use some touch-up paint to cover my tracks.

One thing that is kind of stupid is the retainers for the rocker panel. They're plastic and the only way to remove them is to break them (the service manual actually says you have to break them for removal). I need to pick up a couple of those because I had to take the front part of the rocker loose to get the fender in behind it.

Igotmeav, Paypal is sent, thanks. If you're at Lindsey's today and asking about PN's, would you mind asking them what the PN is for the rocker panel retainer? It's the retainer on the bottom of the rocker and is rectangle shaped.

Thanks,

John

don't try to drill it all the way out don't waste your time

go get a left hand trust drillbit and a centerpunch

tap a spot in the screw press nice and hard with the drilbit and just unscrew it

you can fnd the punch anywhere and the bit at a GOOD haardware store
