Like you, I've built a bunch of Chev SB engines. I think the file for the '73 should work OK for you. It's a straight-forward engine to work on. Timing the cam is different than a Chevy, but using the marks on the sprockets will get you there. Number 1 cyl isn't at firing- top-center like a Chevy when the timing marks are lined up. steelybill 07-18-09, 12:03 PM For folks doing a re-build on a 472/500, there is a stainless steel front plate available from www.cad500parts.com (Flashcraft) The original front sheet metal plate is often rusted/pitted and prone to leaks. The water pump is mounted there etc. Last time I looked, the new plate is $125. BILL | |
