A few of you have talked about pegging the V at its' top end and I was wondering how do you stop?

Do you let the engine do most of the braking then use the brakes when you get to a more sensible speed for hitting them?

I was just curious.

ABS and Stabilitrak are fantastic - just hammer the brakes and close your eyes!!! :nono:

Personally, I let them coast down to a reasonable speed (engine braking in top gear)...but I've not been to 163, that I recall...maybe 145 or so...or maybe not...I don't speed :lies:

Sort of like the radar detector equation - does owning one mean you intend to break the law? Does owning a car that goes faster than any legal speed limit in your area mean the same :yup:

i let the engine do most of the work....why waste the brakes??? jus rev and down shift when needed

Just lift off the gas, the car will slow on it's own. If you need your brakes at that speed you were going too fast in the first place.

Well, when I hit 161, both times were on an empty highway at 2:30AM. So both times, I used the brakes from 161-70. Then I took my exit.

If you have to ask, you dont need to be going that fast. do it in increments. 130 slow 140 slow 150 slow... get used to it, before ya get killed.

Just toss it into reverse... that should do the trick

Be careful with the downshift. I wouldn't recommend it at 160. You may enter the Death Spin. Brakes are cheaper to replace.

I see where this is going now. :) I sometimes use the Fred Flintstone method. I have shoes though.
