today while i went to put some gas in the car, i went to pay for it and when i got back to pump....i'll be damned if the cap wasnt gone!...well im gonna call the station again in the morning to see if anyone returned it. but does anyone know if i have to get a new cap from the stealership or can i pick up a generic one at autozone or something like that.....i have a 98 deville..thanks

I'm not sure for a 98, but for my 1990 they sell gas caps and locking gas caps for like $20. I highly doubt you need to go to a dealership to get a gas cap.
Just find one of those jumbo books by the gas cap section.
Many gas stations have a box full, and will give you one for the asking. They are usually left by some unconscious motorist.

I agree with Ranger. When I lost my gas cap, I went to the nearest gas station and told them I lost mine and they pulled out a small box full of them. I was amaze by how many they had. I took the nicest one and thank the guy and left.
