I've had my catera for 3 yrs. Is a 97 with 116K miles on it. Its time to get another car. The problem is the head gaskets are blown in the engine. Everything else runs good with the car, and spent a lot of money on it with parts etc.
What would be a fair price to let it go for?

You should get $250 for it.
At $500: take the money and run like hell.
At $1000: go get your teeth whitened. Yer gonna need the work done to support your week-long watermellon smile.
Anything above $1000: retire. You just won the lottery!!!
Now if you want to do the work and run the risk of parting the car out, you might do better . . . . or you might not . . . . . . depending on your mechanical and sales knowledge and skills.
Good luck.:hide:
