What do you think? Which is going to win in a race, which has better acceleration, etc?

I have the 295HP model, and I do not have any details on the 75 Ventura. Lets call them both stock.
I honestly think my friends are trying to out-do me, ever since I bought my Cadillac.

Friend of mine has a Ventura. It was fast enough to beat a turtle, sometimes.

The Venture has a smog-era 350 Buick, I believe, makes about 200 horses in perfect tune. You could beat it in reverse.

dont even worry about that one.
just push the pedal and enjoy the W.
The venturas 0-60 is probably somewhere in the 10 second range.

The only cool Ventura was that one used in "The Seven Ups"

LOL! That was awesome.... heh, honestly I never even heard of the Pontiac Ventura, atleast it dosen't come to mind quickly..... wasn't that what the last GTO became an option package on that car?

That was the 2 door in the video, what was the 4 door? A Bonneville? Man, gotta love the old GM land yacht suspensions, that was pretty darn cool :)

That was a neat video... never saw that movie, I'll have ot go rent it or something now.

It was basically Pontiac's attempt to muscle in on the Buick Electra and Olds 98. Lasted from 1971 to 75 IIRC. Seeing something so big hustling through NYC traffic is pretty impressive. Like trying to fly a battleship.

You might also notice the driver of the Grand Ville looks familiar. It's Bill Hickman, the same superb stunt driver behind the wheel of the menacing Charger in Bullitt.

Rent the DVD; it includes a featurette on making the car chase. This is probably my second or third favorite chase after Buillitt and What's Up Doc?

My mom had a '74 Ventura. 350 w/3 speed manual. The car had not problem smokin the tires as much as you wanted but all in all not that fast.

If the Ventura owner is sneaky, there is a lot of room in that engine bay for a hot 400 or 455SD or a 502 Chev. I would want to look under the hood before betting any money. In stock form they are pretty slow.

Senator Tom Daschle drove a Ventura. That makes it slightly less cool, lol.

That was a great chase!! Always did like Roy Scheider.

Those Grand Ville's were pretty cool. It was total land yacht -- you could see the body floating all over the place flying over those city streets.

Those '70s cars could take some abuse...unlike anything today.
