View Full Version : Solitare. Isn't every game supposed to be winnable?

I'm talking about the old original solitare, with seven columns, each one with a single more card than the one to the left, draw three.

I thought that every possible card combination of that was supposed to be winnable somehow. BUT, On my computer version of it, which I always play while on the phone just for something to do with my hands, I found one that I can't even play a single card. It's still open on my computer and I've rechecked it a couple of times and sure enough, there is not a single playable card on either the playing field or the extra deck. Hmmmmm...

I've heard that as well, but I run into the same problem as you. Maybe it's a myth.

Whether they are all winnable or not depends on how skillfully you can cheat. If no ones watching it's easy.

Ask George Ray Tweed about solitaire. He hid from the Japanese for two and a half years on the island of Guam. He passed the time playing thousands of hands of all varities of solitaire between fleeing from Jap patrols trying to find him. He wrote a book called "Robinson Crusoe, USN". If you want to know what kind of American citizens Guamanians are this book is the place to find out.

I always love when people finish playing and go 'I WON' with the up-most excitement. I love to explain to them that this is a good thing since they're the only one playing.

No, not every game of solitaire is winnable. Every game of FREECELL is winnable. That's probably what you are thinking of.

Man ya'll go off on some crazy tangents.
