I have had numerous people climbing in and out of my car and they have
already scuffed and scratched the lower rocker panels and sills.
I took some scratch remover to them yesterday and got some of the scuffs out but not the scratches.
i waxed the rockers to provide some protection.

cadillac should have used a rough texture paint on the rockers.

I saw somewhere where you can buy clear tape that has the same type of rough scuff resistant top, but doesn't show. I'll try and find it. Those rockers are badly designed IMHO.

Don did you find a source for the tape?

When I first looked at an SRX it was obvious that the door sills and rocker panels were going to look like the inside of a 6 year old farm truck in a few weeks.

I assumed I would be able to buy some sort of door sill liners for protrction. I remember buying rubber self adhesive ones for S10 blazer doors sills which are no problem compared to these stupid door sills. All Cadillac offers through the rip off aftermarket are stainless steel covers which will still scratch and look like a cow hands truck.

I like the handling and was impressed by the performance. However, overall, the execution of the SRX is really marred by the cruise control on a stick, no turn signals in the mirrors, 14.5 inch sills, gas cap on the european side and other things that illustrate a lack of practical thinking on the part of what appears to be the Cadillac skunk werks.

If anyone can locate the tape please publish the information so we can after engineer this defect.

Vogue(I think) makes aluminum rocker covers that look fairly decent.
I have been waxing my rockers releigiously with NXT cleaner wax and have gotten the scuffs off but I have one scratch I can't remove.

Was driving through new construction yesterday and went down an unpaved road, rode over a 2" branch which popped up and scratched down the side of my lower passenger door.

I think it will come out though.

This is on 3M site. I have seen some tape on web at some other place but am out of town so do not have access to my favorite places where I had saved the info. Hope this helps.

it looks like invinca-shield http://www.invinca-shield.com/ASP/makeon2.asp?make=Cadillacmakes a lot of paint protectors for the SRX, just not one for the door sills. I would guess that a call with a request would get it in their catalog.
And if you want bulk protectors in 4, 6, 8, 12 inch strips these guys are the lower priced, of those that advertise a price fper linear foot: http://www.44tools.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PP

I have called Invinca shield and they are going to design a 3M clear shield for the SRX door sills. They expect to have it within two weeks.

The rocker panel clear protectors are available for the SRX at

http://www.invinca-shield.com/ASP/m...p?make=Cadillac (http://www.invinca-shield.com/ASP/makeon2.asp?make=Cadillac)

I ordered mine by phone as they had not updated the website yet.

I decided to buy some film and give it a try myself. My first test was to cut a piece and wrap it around the plastic rocker panel under one of the back doors. I was able to get a single piece to wrap from the inside edge that abuts to the metal door sill to the bottom of the rocker panel . This involves compound curves and several angles. I found that it was doable. I must say that it certainly was a learning experience.

Are you going to do the others yourself and if so where did you get the film

I will do the rest when we get back home. I bought LLumar film from a detail shop that installs it. LLumar film is very clear. The 3M film is translucent and presents a duller finish than the LLumar.

The door sill I did is the one for the door that my 86 year old father used for 3 days hen he traveed with us. He is a D-Day veteran and always led an active life, however, he no longer can lift his legs the way he used to. The film worked perfectly even though he drug his shoes across it every time he went in and out. Please understand he is the only person in the world who could scratch the door sills without me saying anything about it. But, happy to say the film really offers protection.
