Run a search on the site. I recall this being a problem with several others. Eventually the washer motor burns up. At least your headlights stay clean!

Turn the key instead of the tugging on the washer lever with auto lights on.

Otherwise, I'm of no use. Back to my beverage.

Wow, this one intrigues me.
You don't live near DC do you? I'd like to get my hands on that one to check it out.

Looking at the schematic I can see several possible causes, but there are only a few possibilities here.
How long does the washer run when you start the car? Are you saying that you can start it, turn it off, and then start it again and the washer will run?
Only the headlamp washer comes on, not the windshield washer?

The DIM (dash integration module) could be sending a false input to the washer relay, or the washer relay itself could be bad and turning on the pump. It looks like this is a special relay with a built in logic circuit and a timer.
My first guess would be the relay.
It is in the underhood fuse box labeled, HDLP WASH RELAY MINI-OPT.

sorry, sy1172. Just wanted to post in this thread so I could ultimately see what the fix was, and have a little fun. Silly :alchi: me.
