At the risk of starting another "Havoline" avalanche, I'd say you did just fine choosing Castrol synthetic.

New slippery kind.

Well since you asked,

Rotella T Synthetic.

I like walnut oil for pancakes.

Why ask after the fact? Go with it, you're fine - it's oil. If you really want to read about particular preferences then do a search.

Yeah just lock this thread. There's enough of this going on.

Any name brand Synth is better than any Dyno oil, period. If you're not going to keep the car forever any good oil will do.

Mods. lock this please.

10w-30 Havoline, Chevron, or Pennzoil. Valvoline Max Life is very good too.

Bottom line.... any API starburst certified oil, 5/30 in winter, 10/30 in summer. I use Mobil 1 10/30. Castrol synthetic is fine as long as it's 5/30 or 10/30

:horse: Read the owner's manual and don't believe the snake oil claims. A "starburst" certified oil with the proper viscosity for your most normal temperature conditions will do just fine. Otherwise, hype is just more "American Idol" bullcrap.

For a 93-99, a "starburst" certified oil may not have enough high pressure anti-wear additives to keep your cams and lifters alive. (read: ZDDP)

That can be corrected by adding the EOS. See above linked thread.
