Does anyone know where someone can get the Service Manuals for the SRX and a good code reader? Check Engine came on. Took my 04 SRX to the dealer. Dealer says two codes appeared, P0016 and P0018. Which calls for dropping of the oil pan and inspection of the cam. T.O. says its a 19 hour jobs. Here in Idaho labor is $90/hr. Paying $1900  in labor costs for a so-called inspection of the cam, because they have to drop the pan. And that doesn't included a GM Mandated front-end alignment because of the oil pan removal. NOT COVERED under extended warranty - that's another issue. Love the SRX just not the after-sale support.

1) Manuals: helminc.com/ Helm Inc, 14310 Hamilton Ave, Highland Park, MI 48203 , 800-782-4356 or 800-635-8860.
2) 2005 SRX Manual (3 vol set): GMT05SRX; 135.00+ 9.95 H&S+ 10.30 tax = $152.25 (2004 may be a different number??)

3) NOTE ref my manual --- SAME DTC CODES, BUT DIFFERENT PROBLEMS FOR V6 & V8---!!!: (you have V6 ???)
**THINK I WOULD GET A SECOND OPINION IF SERVICE TECH CANNOT TELL V6 from V8 or ???** (until after $1900 service inspection ??)**FIND ANOTHER TECH!!**

3a) V6 (light on but runs OK?): ref Vol 2 pp 6-1325 (NO P0016 for V6; P0017 & P0018 are engine coolent temp (ECT) sensor --maybe bad fuse or bad sensor !!

3b) V8 (light on engine not run?): ref Vol 2, pp 6-1865 & 1866: P0016 intake cam shaft position correlation bank 1; P0018 intake cam shaft position correlation bank 2 (sounds like maybe degraded oil level, low oil level, low oil pressure, sticking oil control valve, sticking CMP actuator, loose timing chain, low battery voltage, etc, etc); if a V8 and mine, I would change oil & filter - Mobil 1 5-30 full synthetic, clear DTCs with a scan tool, be very careful operating engine

4) I have a ScanGuage, www.scanguage.com, 480-831-2845, ~$125-$150,
ref this forum - "Turning self diagnostic on" (03-26-06); you can read most computer storage, reset, but not change computer software.
GOOD LUCK

I'd like to hear that story.

Parts: $54.39
Labor: $1300.00

Extended Warranty basically only covers if something is actually repaired/replaced. However, as of today, it looks like the dealer that I purchased from the vehicle is on my side when it comes to the Warranty Company. Will only have to pay a deductible.

Is the Extended Warranty from GM/Cadillac? Did you purchase the vehicle from a GM dealer?
