Camaro went 60s Style to do the Bird at 60s too would be kinda pointless but the 70s when the Trans AM was at its style high with the HUGE gold bird and the 400+ CI engines....

Correct, but GM has already said they will not make a Firebird, you will get the GTO...:nono:
The GTO is a good car though.

I also own a 88 GTA for 3 days. It was red with gray interior. Dam telephone pole jumped at me in the road. :shhh:

I like it much better than the Camaro one though...wish it was the other way around and the TA was being built. I've always liked the Firebird versions better than the camaro's...but maybe that's just the Dodge guy in my, liking the hard to find and ugly stuff. :) The newer generations trans ams I've always loved though. The camaro, to me, looks refined, smooth and classy while the trans am always looked raw, powerful and just plain mean.

Problem is the Camaro is a household name and GM needs to sell 100,000 a year to keep it going, they don't want to compete within themselves.
And the original bandits really didn't move out all that good, big motor so clogged with emissions. They did look good though.
The Pontiac 400 was 180 HP...
The Oldsmobile 403 was 185 HP...
The Bandit 6.6...200 HP.
A LS2 would suffice in the new one or a L92.

i agree, i would buy that before i would the Camaro. that thing is mean looking. i know my dad would buy one cause he had one of the 77s back when he was my age and said he would definitely buy one. so there are two sales right there.

Fugly, without a doubt. The other "new" mustang isn't horrible, I'd drive one if the price was right. That one above me, ha, not a chance!

Always wanted a TA, still am kicking myself for not getting the 89 Turbo TA...that was a beast of a ride!!! So hopefully they come out with something great!!! :bouncy:

In 1977, 400 was 180 hp (http://www.angelfire.com/wa/angryclown/CanAmW72.html), in 1978/1979 it was 220 hp (despite the tiny cam, .364/.407 lift and around 274/298 gross duration). 301 Turbo was 210 hp/345 lb-ft torque with an even smaller cam, .350 lift and 250 degrees gross duration.

The 79 Trans AM sold 100K, and that was the all time best year the Firebird lineup ever had. With today's stupid high prices, they will never see that again, but if they get the prices in line with people's paychecks, then yes, it would be possible.

GM flopped with the GTO. They needed to have a LeMans 3800 powered version to support it and get the #'s in line. How many people would have not bought a Grand Prix with wrong wheel drive and bought a LeMans with a base 3800 or a optional 4.8L LR4 (with GTO handling underpinnings) and the GTO reserved to get the LS2 or better yet, the LS6. The LS2/L92 makes good power, but the LS6 just runs sooo much harder.

That Mustang concept was at NAIAS, it looks horrible. The rear is even worse. Apparantly it was a joint design with an Italian firm....they blew it. :cookoo:

IF they are going to make a photoshop with the late 70's TA then they should have threw on the gold honeycombs....just ain't the same without them!
