My first car was a 1951 Ford coupe. 3spd stick shift. Bought and paid for it myself in 1958. It was a sweet car and I was proud of it!

My first was my '84 Cutlass Supreme, my grandfather bought it new, and it stayed in the family. The first time I saw it I fell in love, so naturally, when I needed a car, I got it... well actually I had to pay $1,500 for it, but I didn't care. I still have in tucked in the garage.

Here's me with it when it was practically new.

I got SO much attention in that car whether the top was up or down. It just doesn't happen as much in the CTS. No one expects a young girl to be driving a CTS like mine. Lots of times in parking lots when I get out of my car I get "Dammmmmnnn that's your car?!" lol. It's funny. But definitely less action while driving around because it's not an obvious chick car, so therefor guys don't look inside as much.

Memorial Day eve I have my Road Runner parked out front (on cul-de-sac). This guy gets in a fight with his girlfriend. He tears straight down her street though the intersection, cuts through my cul-de-sac and T-Bones my RR. The impact drove the drivers door over to the shifter. We call the police cause the driver fled the scene. Cop comes to scene, shines his flashlight under my car and spots "the guys fron license plate". He say I've been waiting 20 years for something like this, I'm gonna nail this guy. They found him several hours later front end of his car trashed, windshield gone and cuts all over him. His insurance company comes to my house the next day and cuts me a check for $1,500. I went out and bought this sweet '68 Z/28.

Here's the Sofa on Wheels as my girlfriend calls it.
http://uk.geocities.com/redoctober7000/CSS/threequarters.JPG
Bough it, in part, with my inheritance from my father's mother's estate. Supremely comfortable.

Had all the common problems; intake manifold cracked, ignition got loopy, 0^2 Sensor went bad, blew out all the power brake lines (damn pedestrians), the starter quit (ONLY time the car ever stranded me -she kept slogging even the time the tensioner assembly blew up on me and she lost all power accessories), and the ABS is sometimes wonky, but it's a solid car with decent power, only thing that ever rode better in my experience is the DeVille Concours I test drove one time (slobber).

It's been in two accidents, (with me), one of which destroyed the other car (A Chrysler Sebring). The guy turned in front of me and I wiped him out; he was following his wife through an intersecion (dumb), while not wearing his safety belt (Dumber) with previous soft tissue damage in his back (REALLY dumb). To put it this way, "He went away in the ambulance and his car went away on the flatty. I drove home. Wear your goddamn safety belt!".

I looked all the feck all over for that decal (front decal) for the six years I've had the car and just found it about six months ago AT THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM. Life is funny, isn't it? Here's the back end:

But 64 Impalas and 93-96 Fleetwoods are the weapon of choice in the lowrider game.Hey lowlow, maybe you can answer this for me. Why is the '64 Impala the Holy Grail of lowriders?

I love them because that's the car I grew up with and learned to drive in, plus they're beautiful and great drivers. But why is the '64 Impala the car for lowriders?

I've posted it before, but here's my first car, the '64 Impala my parents bought in December, 1966 when I was six months old. This picture was probably taken shortly after we bought it. Nellie had a 283 V-8, Powerglide, power steering, power brakes, and factory air.

http://www.gdwriter.com/nellie_67.jpg

My Dad spent a lot of money retrofitting the A/C in the early 80s (couldn't get original parts), and it worked great. The summer I turned 16, this was my car, and I used the A/C all the time. My Dad complained about it; I have no idea why since I was the one paying for gas (and sadly, Nellie sucked gas like a B-52). But as I told him, "you spent a lot of money getting the air to work; it works great. I'm going to be comfortable."

She also had those godawful J.C. Whitney clear plastic seat covers. I'll admit, they spared the upholstery, but I needed a butt towel that summer.

I have a picture of the '74 Celica that got me through the rest of high school, college, and my first year on my own, but first I have to find it, then scan it.

hmmm, sorry, i cant really give a sure answer. i know they were made popular in the early 90s in Dr. Dre videos (which is were i seen my first lowrider and fell in love with Impalas). but in the 70s-80s its what a lot of lowriders were buying cause they werent very expensive. it had all the right things needed for lowriding: rwd, a full frame, looks, etc. eventually they just became the lowrider of choice. i, myself, have plans to get a 63-64 Impala and juice it. but i dont know why, its just a beautiful car (like the 93-96 Fleetwoods) and its what people want.

1966 Pontiac GTO Convert in Montero Red with White top & vinyl bucket seat interior with many options. It was a 1965 graduation gift from High School, from my parents. In 1967 - parked - a drunk slammed into it and caused $2,200 dollars worth of damage. The insurance compamny totalled it. I had it for 9 months.

'66 and '67 are my favorite years for GTO's...I like that angular, sharp styling a lot more than the more rounded 68-71 body style.

This is the first car I bought - 69 Chevelle SS. I was given a few before this but they didn't last long before I sold them. This was not my car but mine was an SS396, Hugger Orange, no vinyl top, same SS wheels, etc. The person I bought it from did a decent job of keeping it stock but I did have to de-chrome the engine compartment. Then ported and polished the heads, bored .030 over, new cam, all the goodies. I was a regular at KC International Raceway. Won many a race... regret the day I sold it. :helpless:

Here's a picture of a picture. '85 Pontiac Parisienne Brougham. Straight pipe and an Edelbrock carburetor. Probably running on 6 cylinders when we donated it. Was dicking around with the radio on the way to work one morning, crossed over the other lane of traffic, and totalled the whole driver side of the vehicle on a "stop ahead" sign. Drove it for 5 more months till I found my Brougham. I wish I could find the picture I have of both the Pari and the Caddy in the garage together, when I was cleaning out one and filling the other.
