We drove to Anchorage from Fairbanks over the weekend. It was -31F leaving home. To keep the windows clear you hit the "down" arrow on the right side of the control until the pictogram shows air being blown at the windshield and your feet. Hit the "up" arrow on the blower control until you're at the next to last level. The windows will stay clear when the OAT is -50F and you can ride comfortably in your shirtsleeves. When we got to Anchorage there had been 33" of new snow over the last couple of days and the temp was above zero; no problem for WS-50 Blizzaks. We averaged 62MPH and 24MPG over the 359 miles. When we left for home there were a couple inches more snow. We averaged 65MPH and 24.2MPG also 359 miles. The temperature on arrival was in Fairbanks was -33F. This morning when I drove my wife to work it was -41F and the car was comfortable. The CTS makes a great winter car.

-31, -33, & -41 are you freaking serious!!! That's ridiculous. El Nino has kept it a very mild winter so far here in the north east but I guess you guys are really getting it rough, geez. At those degrees I'd never leave the house lol...

There's a lot of traffic on the streets. People still ride bicycles. Down by Denali Park the wind was blowing about 45MPH and there is almost no snow.

I'm in northern Ontario and with the Kumho winter tires I havn't had a problem, even with the car being lowered. I don't use the winter mode unless it is really bad out. I just find it hard to go from Toyo T1R's to the winter tires. Feels like I'm driving on Jello.

Winter here in RI. has been quite warm 40's & 50's........minus 41F & -33F, I don't think I would be leaving the house at all.....

We have a 2003 CTS and it is awesome in the snow and ice. We just got hit with a major ice storm in Tulsa and the CTS is running like a 4WD Jeep. The winter mode makes a major difference. Tried to spin it out in a parking lot and the traction control kept it from spinning around no matter how hard I tried.

I love this car!

well.... i figured i`ll update you on CTS winter driving since yesterday we got hit the with ice storm and there was 700 accidents reported in the last 24 hours:eek:
So around 8 am i went out to warm her up and its completely covered in ice, started with no difficulty(+), after 5 minutes of scraping the windows which warm up quick (heated mirrors (+) was time to take her for a drive . Roads werent clear yet so the pavement was all ice. First stop sign (winter mode OFF) computer reads: traction control engaged, traction control engaged(-) turned the winted mode ON different story takes off much more easier(+) making the turns was alright but not what i was expecting, not as steady(-)
It terms of fuel efficiency didnt really noticed any difference (+)

Overall an average winter drive considering how bad the conditions were so i`ll give 4 of 6

There is only one thing i didnt like and its how the space between the window and the trunk freezes because there is no heating there so my trunk is unaccessible for the time being see pics below
