I have had several Craftsman torque wrenches over the years. My most recent one was the 1/2" DigiTork model. Very nice, but it has a major flaw. As the wrench ages, the rubber handle loosens, and slips and slides on the wrench. Since the setting window is on the rubber handle, I no longer trust it for its accurracy. So I was in the market for a Snap-On electronic torque wrench. But at almost $400, I decided to do a little research. What I came up with is this beauty. It is a Gear Wrench electronic torque wrench, model #KD 85071. I made the purchase two weeks ago from www.mroxpress.com. I inadvertantly ordered the 3/8" model. Cost was $189.33. Within 5 minutes of placing the wrong order, I called thier customer service line. I explained the situation, and was assured that the correct wrench would arrive, and cost would be about $203. Two days later, the 3/8 wrench arrived. I contacted them, they sebt out the correct one, and sent a return lable for the wrong one. Didn't bill me extra either so I am happy. Here are a few pics. Check out the results sheet that came with it. Less than 1% variation. You set the target torque, and when you reach it, it beeps loudly. It is massive and has a great feel to it. I love it already.

I paid 20 for mine too. It hasn't broken yet though. I've got my money's worth from it.

We sure have come a long way from the old beam style wrenches!

I have an older "click" type Craftsman wrench. When the plastic locking collar broke I tried to get Sears to honor their Craftsman lifetime guarantee. They said it didn't include torque wrenches.

Does it vibrate too? I know some do and some don't. I like the Snap-on one for it's vibrate feature since you can't always hear them beep in the shop when the guy next to you is knocking out a ball joint with an air-hammer.

No vibration from it. It just has the three lights and the beeper. Plus the display shows the current torque value. So if you can have an eye on the display, there is no need for even the beep. But it beeps pretty loud. I can see where a noisy shop would pose a problem though. The Snap-On vibrating is actually a nice feature then.

Maybe I should try them again. It has probably been 10 years. I have a Snap-On that I use primarily now.

Nice! If it's that accurate you can't beat it for $203. I have a Matco Digital torque wrench that I use all the time.. I love it. Danaher makes Matco, most Craftsman, GearWrench, etc.

I have a friend with a torque wrench, ergo I don't even own one :)

When I open my business I will have to buy one, that one seems pretty nice..

That might make a good thread - What tools/eqiupment should I have in my garage? Or...what tools make working on cars easier?
