well last year before i bought my GTO i test drove an '06 V and was not impressed at all, i then acquired my '05 GTO and well now i was looking on trading the goat in on either an '05 or '06 V since now i need the 4 doors.......so test drove a black '05 and again just wasn't impressed with the acceleration. Now i did have 3 ppl in the car and I know even with my goat i can feel a huge difference having just a passenger in the vehicle so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it or not. I was wondering how they compare to Charger and 300 SRT-8s, I know a lot of you are prolly biased but would just like to hear some of your opinions. What year did the CTS-Vs trasfer from the LS6 to LS2? I figured '05 when the GTO did but looking around it seems like the '05s still had the LS6s. I also plan on using my NOS brand LS2 plate kit.

06 was the first year for LS2

In addition to having the weight of the passengers, you might not be used to how the LS6 performs. I have an '05 and it accelerates very well even with passengers.

Yeah not sure what to tell you. I've run two GTOs now and beat them both, and I have an 05 ?

You have to be kidding right?

Your comming from a bottle fed car and your commenting on the stock acceleration?

AND, your gonna add it anyway?

WHOO HOO.

Stock the car is probably faster then 95% of anything else.

It's the other 5% DAMMIT!!!:histeric:

well not exactly, my '98 COBRA is aka BOTLFED.......i bought an NOS brand LS2 plate kit but never installed it on the goat, so stock for stock yes the GTO feels a lot quicker but i'm sure it should be since it's a lot smaller

Go drive an SRT-8. It's like a sledge hammer. Brutal, but effective. It's the first automatic I've driven that breaks traction on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift. 13 second flat quarter miles at 108mph are nice too and highly repeatable with the automatic. You can also autostick the car without the hassle of clutching. You can find used models in the $36-$38 range. If you don't like the handling, you can opt for KW coilovers and Hotchkis sways and you'll handle every bit as good as the CTS-V's. Well almost.

I walked an LS2 GTO on the Fwy from 60 to around 130.

My V only has exhaust and a shifter.
