Work safe video. This is an interesting new system, and pretty cool. :D Frankly I would be in favor of it if it meant there were fewer uninsured drivers on the roadways. Somehow it makes me a little nervous though....maybe b/c it's a bit of an invasion into our privacy.

another way for the cops to catch speeders rather than catch murders and rapists.....

As far as moving violations go, I feel that the only way I should get a ticket is if they see me in person perform the activity in question.
This however is borderline in that regard. The stolen car aspect is cool, but how often do you think it pays off?
I think they have a "agreement" with the big n' bad insurance companies to help profits :)
Cool link and technology though, Thanks
Awesome software and capabilities, but i definately think its going to be misused to infringe on our rights. I don't like it.

He said it would find license plates issued to uninsured vehicles twice. That was a Corsica, not a Lumina.
IMO it should be used on marked police units only, and used for locating stolen vehicles and uninsured/suspended motorists only.

Try for stolen vehicles only.
For one thing, the insurance requirement is .gov in the sack with the insurance companies (read: Government endorsed oligopoly), and what does a vehicle registered as to suspended driver have to do with anything? What about the guy that gets poped 5 times over the course of the day because his buddy who has a suspended license is letting him drive his car?

They already have roadside cameras and such to catch speeders so it seems like this will be more geared towards stolen vehicle recovery and that sort of thing. In that sort of application I'm all for it, who here doesnt want to make it easier for the cops to find your car if its stolen? I think its one of those things where if youre not breaking the law then it shouldnt affect you, but it still does carry some "big brother" issues.
One little step towards complete loss of freedom. Once we all accept this and don't argue with it and say that its ok, they'll take one MORE little step towards the total loss of freedom.

You know what, I never thought I'd say this to you. But you're right.
Now excuse me while I have my head examined.

he IS right, in north carolina, youre required to provide proof of insurance before you are issued a driver license, how many people do you know who have a license who dont have a car? tons! well north carolina insurance companies "conveniently" invented a named non owner insurance policy which is supposed to cover you while you drive other vehicles, and so you may provide proof of insurance to dmv to get your license. this policy will cost you the same as a basic single vehicle liability policy.
wanna know whats messed up about it?
its useless!
our policies state that if im the ownerof the vehicle and you are driving my vehicle and are involved in an accident where you are at fault, my insurance pays. if you are involved in an accident where you are not at fault, the at fault party pays.
