1986 Toyota 4Runner. 22R, five speed. 363,000 miles. New brakes. Not the prettiest thing in the world and it needs a tailgate and glass for the tailgate, but it was only two grand and its a 4 wheel drive truck that gets 20 mpg, has brand new tires, heater, A/C, power steering and passes smog!!!

Much better than my '84 Chevy 3/4 ton that gets 7 mpg, has brand new tires, no heat, no A/C, failing power steering, failing wheel bearings and that doesn't pass smog...and registration that's due in three months.

I love the 80s 'runners...the freaking top comes off and that makes me happy. Summertime will be grand!

I love that '85 Toyota truck they used in Back To The Future I and III.

My uncle had a 4Runner back in the early '90s, I think it was the same style as yours Spyder.
And 363k miles is nothing to be modest about! Those '80s Toyotas were really something else!

Pics of the truck should come along sometime today. I've got to go pick up my new torque converter for the Challenger here in a few minutes, and then I'm gonna go work on the car for a while...and then we'll see if its still daylight by the time I'm done. :)

363K on it and you're looking forward to it still running next summer? Hmm...

It runs better than half of the 27 vehicles I've ever owned. It's a 'yota, for gods sake! :)

Well, its dark now. Took 'er out wheeling a bit and liked what I saw. Taking it easy for now though becaue I don't want to break her on the first week of having it...tomorrow morning comes registration and transfer. :)

Drove 2 Toyota trucks into the ground,I think they had 22r motors also.Nice drive lines in those things,I think I could still tear the front end apart blind folded.My yellow one went 250,the white one got to 300.I bought the yellow one for 1000 bucks,it was an oil field truck so the body was terrible.I put a clutch in it,some tires and a voltage regulator.Thats it!Never changed the oil, just topped her off with whatever was open in the garage.

2 grand for an '86?? I need to run some trucks out to the left coast and sell them! Toyotas are solid though. :thumbsup:

They're ALL going for over that...even the beat up ones. Everyone wants them to build monster rock crawlers with...The few that I found in my area were in worse shape for around three grand a piece. If you got a truckload of decent ones shipped out here, I'd be more than happy to sell them out here for a cut! :)

I should tell my pastor. He has, I think, an '85 4Runner with a gazillion miles on it. I think it's on its second engine. Amazing to see what those things are going for.
