I received a notice from XM that I would soon be getting a bill for the next year for my Denali. I decided to drop XM for the truck since I don't really use it for long trips, thats what we use the SRX for. When I called, I first dealt with their awful voice response system, then waited 15 minutes for customer service. The rep then told me she had to transfer me to someone else to process a cancellation, so I got to wait another 10 minutes. This only served to remind me that every time I've called XM over the past 3 years has been a PITA (dropped calls, long waits, can't find account information, can't add a new car to an existing account during the free trial period and get credit for the full free period, charge extra if you don't let them do direct billing to your credit card, etc.) When the second rep picked up, I cancelled my XM service on both vehicles and requested a refund. Enough of dealing with their bad information sytems and customer service.

Yeah, their customer service has seriously declined since I joined in 03.

Mine was for $142.45 for the year. They dropped it to something like $77 for the year trying to keep me.

About 50% of the time when I call, I get an American or Canadian. They've been generous to me with huge discounts, free service, and free hardware. If I get someone with an accent, I just hang up.

Really though, I stick around for Opie and Anthony. Plus, since getting a handheld portable XM tuner, I've been listening more frequently.

I can't live without XM around here.I hate country music!Around here 3/4s of the stations are country. There are also tons of dead spots going thru the flint hills where you get XM or nothing at all.My xm is usually on when i'm on here also.I have 2 accounts, one in the car and the tuner for the house that also goes with me in the truck.

We have XM in the Escalade, I always keep it on the comedy station (150). Traffic (almost) never gets boring when listening to that.

But whats with the occasional commercials? About every 15 minutes or so I'll have to sit through some commercial trying to get me to join a fantasy football team or something. I thought one of the main points of XM was being commercial free?

AOL tried to do that. They made it REAL hard to cancel accounts. My friends just called the credit card company, telling them that they lost their cards. So, when AOL tried to charge for service again, the card numbers didn't work. That was the end of that.

Only the Clear Channel-owned music stations have ads. The talk, traffic, and TV simulcast stations of course run ads too.

XM is garbage. Plain and simple!

I got it back in April when I picked up my CTS. Took em a few days and several calls to activate my radio. Shitty programming. Only good thing was Opie and Anthony. Terrible music selection. I would often find the same song on 4 different stations!

I lost my card it was being billed to and forgot to pay for a while. Called em up and paid. Took a few days and several calls to get reactiviated. Finally decided I had enough and cancelled.

I cancelled several months ago and I got another bill about a week aGO! WTF! Thanks for reminding me to call them and see whats up!

Name of the game is subscriptions, (Microsoft wants subscriptions to software like Office and such, Cell phones, Sat TV, Cable TV, Sat Radio, OnStar, etc) so the more difficult it is to drop the subscription to better for them. They don't think they have to care about good customer service. The object is the keep you. OnStar's reup rate is like 20-30%.

What ever happened to having a good company with good customer service???

I would bet if OnStar's current service was around $9.95 a month, the reup rate would double. That is cheap enough to make the service worth it.

I also cancelled AOL by reporting my card missing. They called every day for a month (left voicemails). I LOL'd. CANT GET ME!

So do we use the 'other' satellite radio? Or nothing?

Crutchfield has a Sirius satellite radio conversion kit for GM cars. SIR-GM1 I think is the model number.

I guess the question is do we like Sirius? I don't have either but have been considering buying. I have to tell you that I found it to be a lot like cable TV.

They managed to put some type of sport shit on 90% of the channels. Even the movie channels that you pay for to watch movies. That's just flat out wrong.

I noticed there's a HUUUUGGGGEEE sports line up on both systems. Basically 100 out of the 170 channels I'll never use.

Yeah I can't stand XM either. I have Sirius in the M5 and love it. I checked around for a Sirius conversion kit for my STS and couldn't find one :( I'll check Crutchfield's site tho.

Gotta have Stern and BBC Radio 1.

Its a pretty easy installation. You just swap the core modules in the trunk.

I have Sirius in my Caddy and the wife has XM in her van. I favor Siruis programming over the XM stuff. The radio I got for her car is junk too. This display is plain junk.

Jesda,

Thanks but I already checked on that one.. when I called they said it won't work in my STS :( Although after seeing the new CTS today I'm almost ready to break my lease so who knows.
