I know there was a thread on here a while ago about the terms "caddy" and "lac" but I was cruising around cardomain.com checking out the cadillacs and most people were using the word "lac" and after awhile I was so aggravated at that stupid word. I suggest no one use that term please. It is stupid. I think we should try to stomp out that dumb shorted name because it makes the car look stupid when a backwards hat punk listening to rap with bass shakeing his car apart says "hey man thats a tight lac".:mad:

Its really generational imo, i think 'lac sounds stupid. But i dont go around calling people "squares" either. So i realize that slang must evolve and if people must use phrases we don't like, oh well, we'll live.

I hate it too but what can I do about it? I think most kids have a lot of "rebel" in them and just want to do the opposite of everyone older than them. Think about it - they've changed the abbreviated name of Cadillac from Caddy to Lac.. The complete opposite side of the word.. I guess it's just about being different. I'll never say it - and I doubt anyone past their late 20's will ever say it.

The way I see it is, "Lac" is a term that came from hip hop music. Just like Rock 'n Roll, it'll fade in time.. Hopefully all us 'old folks' will still be around to see that day. hehe. Then we can see all us old people calling Cadillacs 'Caddys', some young people calling 'em 'Lacs' and the kids calling them 'Caddys' again...

I've never seen a Lac for sale, only Caddys. I guess as soon as GM changes the name to Lac, then I'll use it.

It could be worse, they could be calling them 'Crapillacs' and buy a Lincoln instead. But they are buying Cadillac's and giving them cute little new names.

That's an Omegallac. A Chevrollac would be the late '70's Malibu based Seville, amonst others of that vintage.

Come onnnnnnn people its a Caddy and a Lac if you want to call it either one. Thus the name CaddyLac. I agree its probably generational but hey names and terms change. Im sure that Mercedes weren't always called Benz's, but probably Mercedes instead and some old geezer was saying what a dumb thing to do by calling the car a Benz. Oh yeah and what about beemers, not BMW's who the hell thought that, that was an intellegent term at the time.

Come on fellas this ain't Russia, America West (formally know as Iraq), Afganistan, Pakistan, China, Korea or any other country that doesn't allow freedom of choice. Its a caddy or a lac as I see it, but yes Caddy does seem more popular and smoother but if someone wants to shorten the term and say I got a Lac. Well I know what they mean.
