View Full Version : Any of you guys having problems with the interior LED conversions??? I got my bulbs from www.autolumination.com (http://www.autolumination.com/) and now the 194 bulb in the liscense plate starts blinking it seems like when it warms up :hmm: all my other bulbs seem to be doing fine...it's just that one....and like I say, it stays on constant then maybe 3-5 mins go by and it starts blinking...it sucks cause I really liked the way those little led's looked on the car...anyone else have this problem??:bang2: atdeneve 01-04-07, 09:33 AM Yessss!!!! Hell, yes! Damn, that was buggin the hell outta me and I figured I was gonna take the rear apart again and see if there was a loose contact. Holy shite! So it's not just isolated to mine. Frackin flickers like one a dem fly/bug lamps. What's we gotta do to make it stop. Please, make it stop! rand49er 01-04-07, 09:37 AM Left over Christmas bulb? :bonkers: atdeneve 01-04-07, 10:03 AM I've had mine in there for some time now - at least 6 months. It's only the right side that does it too. Flicker fvcker. heavypedal 01-04-07, 10:25 AM Good info. I found the 3157 bulbs on autolumintion and was going to stick those in my tail-lights, $25 each.
Man, wish we had the vertical LED lights like the STS, etc. I know, I know....wait for 2008... they'll finally have them then.
FYI... I was talking to a Caddy mechanice the other day about this. He mentioned that when customers started putting LEDs in the Escalades, they started having problems with their cruise control?!?!?! I said, what the hell does putting in LED lights have to do with cruise control. Regardless, something to look out for when putting in the LEDs. I pland to go ahead with getting the 3157s put in sometime in the next 6 months, and will post with pics and results (flickers, no flickers, cruise control, etc.) vseries 01-04-07, 10:40 AM Not to hijack or anything but on my previous car I had purchased from this seller and was extremely pleased with his bulbs, They were actually BRIGHTER than a standard filament bulb and I never had one burn out, They are also Fairly priced, I will be buying from him again soon for this car.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-1156-1073-7506-RED-LED-Bulbs-tail-signal-bulb-18LED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ020QQit emZ300034209800 yup, it's my right side too...I also thought it was a loose connection and that maybe because the car was running it was vibrating it...so I did it with the car off...same thing...ok so thats weird that both of us have the same thing happening on the same socket with the same bulbs....I wonder if we cut the power to the bulb and tap it off the left side if that would fix anything?? and my bulbs have only been in for maybe 2-3 months....so if anyone has a fix or another idea, please chime in.....I think Ill link the thread to the cts forum. heavypedal 01-04-07, 10:59 AM Not to hijack or anything but on my previous car I had purchased from this seller and was extremely pleased with his bulbs, They were actually BRIGHTER than a standard filament bulb and I never had one burn out, They are also Fairly priced, I will be buying from him again soon for this car.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-1156-1073-7506-RED-LED-Bulbs-tail-signal-bulb-18LED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ020QQit emZ300034209800
Hey vseries, thanks for the link. Better price than autolumination... think it'll happen sooner now :yup: stkshkr 01-04-07, 12:21 PM LEDS on my grandsons 2001 STS caused traction control and lots of electrical problems. Some would work, but others caused the aforementioned problems. 2003RC51 01-04-07, 12:53 PM Similar thing is happening to mine(right side aswell). Its not blinking but is extremely dim. You cant even tell its on unless you are looking directly at the bulb. My HID's have also started flickering very lightly, its kind of hard to see but it is definitely doing it. Im kinda curious if the license plate light has anything to do with my headlight problem. Anyone else noticed this? Similar thing is happening to mine(right side aswell). stock hid's?? or hid foglight kinda thing....how long have you had your led bulbs in for???? 2003RC51 01-04-07, 06:36 PM Its the stock headlights. I have had the led bulbs in for around 5 months give or take. It started messing up about a month ago I believe. I was gonna try and switch the bulb out but if everyone is starting to hae this problem I dont know if its worth it. ya, i think I'm gonna go back to good ole' single filament bulbs...hopefully that'll fix the prob...I feel embarrassed driving around with that damn light blinking...oh well, can't win em' all. ChicagoCTS32 01-04-07, 09:27 PM Mine didn't blink... they just burned out! Went through 4 of the bastards. If someone finds a solution, let me know. If you want to know what they look like, check my Zoints profile in the pictures section. wicked v 01-04-07, 11:58 PM Autozone sells LED replacment bulbs (3157). My right brake light went out so I put a set of brake light bulbs in today. Only 17 bucks for a pair. They look good! atdeneve 01-05-07, 11:20 AM Similar thing is happening to mine(right side aswell). Its not blinking but is extremely dim. It's like the damn twilight zone here. I just noticed my HIDs flickering within the last month, as well. Never thought they were related though. Damn. rArcangel84 01-07-07, 08:39 PM I had the same problem and i fixed it :cloud9: in a simple but nice way, to put it simple IT IS THE BULB, well what this means is that the bulb normally used "194 size 6 LED straight bulbs" is garbage well what this one des is that if you notice the head is quite big and it has a minor and sometimes minimun contact with the plastic cover of the licens plate and makes the individual LEDs get too hot and burn out, while the ramaining 5 leds or 3 that didnt touch the plastic cover resive the power the wrong way to put it in simple words making it flickers untill they all burn out, and simple and effective way to solve this was to get other kind of bulbs that would be smaller and fit right. the solution was "194 size. SuperStar " the new model works great and the color of Superwhite is more like like daylight quite good if you ask me or you can go with the old "194 size. SuperStar " for a more white/blueish color of Superwhite" they both look awsome and they work really well, no flickering or burn out because it is a single short, bright led rather than 6 of then combine. I truly hope that this could help you oO BTW if you really like Daylight for all your interior a recomend "9 LED Rigid Loop Festoons " for all the interior lights including the doors ones and rather than "44mm 9 LED Festoons " that emits a more blueish/white color and make it look well blue, for map lights the new "Superstar 194 bulbs" because their color is more like daylight, well bye and Learn from my mistakes and save some money, because i order the ligts 3 times to get the right colors :banghead: ChicagoCTS32 01-07-07, 09:01 PM well... after translating the above post, basically the 6 LED bulbs burn out and the superstars won't. I'm pretty certain all the LED's are on the same plane and the middle one doesn't stick out any more than the rest of them, but whatever. I'd like to hear back from the rambler in 2 months to see if the superstars are still working. |
