Quick question, would turnung up the idle to 1000rpm smooth out the idle? Seems when I do this manually it's much better.

Thanks

The engine shake at idle is the cam. Enjoy it.

The uneven idle is sometimes called a "lope". It's the natural byproduct of a performance camshaft. To someone with an ear for cars it tells them you have something special under the hood. You could even it out with a higher idle but you'd use more gas and hide that cool muscle car sound.

:yeah:...... it's one of my favorite things about the V!

I would never want to lose that lope. It's one of the first things I noticed when picked my car. Told me I was in something special. Damn I love this V.

Yep. Not as must as the LS6, but it does.

Ok, I hear this but for a $54K car to virbrate under idle is just dumb. There are plenty of 400-500hp cars that don't do this. I don't recall the last Z06 I drove doing this. Just seems odd to me. I don't mind it all that much but it catches everyone who drives with me off guard. Guess we'll live with it.

Thansk all!

Yeah but now name the $50K cars with 400-500 hp/400 ft lb torque that don't do it. The list gets a lot shorter.

I love my idle lope. It says, "Back off" to the people around you, especially with a Corsa.

I've gotten a ton of "Nice car" comments from drive-thru attendants at Wendy's and McDonald's because of it.

Let's see, the $40-$50K cars that don't do it:

300 SRT8
all AMG models
M5 (old and new)
STS-V (as far as I know)
Jaguar Type R
RS4
Escalade
shall I go on?

I too have the Corsa exhaust and love the sound but it just seems silly for a luxury car to have this idle lope. Had my dad in the car for the first time today (hasn't bought american since '82) and he said nice car but that's typical of GM to have such an idle.

Like I said, not a big deal, just wishing it wasn't there.

I think it is a function of a OHV engine with a radical cam. You can probably make a cam with a peaky hp and torque curve that does not do it, but we have power and torque way out to the edges of the rpm range. If you want an engine with less off the line torque and no lope, just get any high HP 4V engine, including the SC Northstar.

I like my lope!

Um.....aside from the SRT-8, which of those cars are in the 50K range (new)????
