I know with some of the romper room behaviour of late everyone may not want to admit it, but some of us did have regular CTSs first. I had the 3.2 when it came out and it was a great ride but underpowered with the auto, and finicky with the Opel 3.2 and US gas. The 3.6 VVT was a major improvement - solid and capable. These well balanced (and quicker than they look) cars are what made me want the V as much as anything.
And no - I did not make any mods to slow it down like heavy DUB wheels or lambo doors.
I owned a 05 3.6l CTS, it had a V grill on it when I bought it. Very nice car but it didn't come with a Nav and the back window vibrated badly when I turned up any music. It handled great, no complaints but it was too quiet. Sport mode made driving it more fun,but...it made me want a V, which was totally different.

Yes... I had an '03 White Diamond, loaded 3.2 auto. Went to the Boundurant school in September of '03 because they had just switched from Mustangs to the 5-speed CTS. Came out of the school wanting more power and a stick. Went to my dealer and put down $500 for rights to the first V the got.

Yes, my wife has a 2005 CTS with 17" STS polished wheels and CTS-V grille and I have a 2006 CTS-V in Stealth Grey...both are great cars. The wife's CTS ( 3.6) is a real sleeper...very fast

Last Summer I bought an '05 CTS 3.6VVT, 6-speed with NAV. My 17 year old daughter is going to want to drive the V one of these days so I bought the CTS for her to learn. It's a great car.

My 3.2 CTS was on the first truckload to Indianapolis. It was NOT a good car, but I loved it anyway. (new rear end, steering rack, computer, tires in the first 25,000 miles) The reason we stayed with Cadillac was the superior service we received from Lockhart cadillac. We ended up trading it for my wife's first SRX, and I got my V a year later. (well worht the wait)
