Cadillac Pickup ( NOT an Escalade EXT).

Hi,

I have no idea where to go or who to ask on this one... Anybody have an idea?

I would be interested, maybe, in buying an modern, street-legal STS or CTS or CTS V converted professionally into a pickup (kind of like the Australian Holden UTE). Not for mega bucks but at a reasonable price. Alternatively, a reputable company that could do the job?

I would prefer it to be a Cadillac, but would consider a modern Camaro or something similarly interesting. Any advice on where to look would be appreciated.

Thanks.

So you want something completely custom that doesn't exist, even the basis for one in this country doesn't exist, you want to pay a professional to do it, and you inserted the phrase "reasonable price?". And let's be clear, this is a VERY custom job. I guess you didn't mention if it would look like a mad max hack job so maybe in that case you could achieve this without "mega bucks" maybe just a sawzall, a welder, and some steel from home depot :) Maybe some rattle can paint for good measure! Otherwise you'll end up paying more than what a nice 2013 EXT would cost which you'll have to determine if that puts you over a reasonable price range. ANYTHING is possible with enough money and time. If you had to ability to do all the fabrication yourself, maybe you could pull it off at a reasonable price but my guess would be about 300 hours of work to get it right. Custom glass, custom metal, reframing the whole back of the car, reinforcing the center structure, relocating electronics, possibly different fuel, possibly redoing your suspension geometry to make the "bed" fit properly, oh yeah and a custom bed structure and tailgate. You're practically building a new car from scratch.

Okay so now that I got the conversion out of the way by crapping all over it, your best bet if you honestly want a ute in the US is these guys:

Can't vouch personally but I've heard there's a guy in AZ that has one (company is in CO). I know a camaro front is possible on these so perhaps if you can start with an actual ute as a base you may have success converting a UTE into a caddy... but again "reasonable cost" goes out the window.

If you want it to be street legal is would be VERY expensive, I have had complete frame off cars restored and it costs hundreds of thousands to do it right.
Here is a MB that our shop did years ago

Here is another

He has many cars around so finding parts were simple, it took about a year of work to make a beautiful benz pickup. ;)
