The problem with rumors is that they’re rumors.

Until the curtain drops, the final hand is never revealed.

500 hp won't mean crap unless they put a decent transmission in it, either! And I'm not talking about being able to handle the power. I'm talking about being able to use it properly, and how you want. The manumatic in the IS350 is a piece of crap. Or many pieces or crap.

I dunno know about that. In my eyes, that top of the line engine should be for the Z06 only. Gives the Corvette that exclusivity.

Hell it would be nice though...

Yeah but isn't the Corvette getting a power boost too?

Several cars are getting power boosts and redesigns for 08/09, but who will be out on top is anybody's guess until all details are made public, most probably at the auto show in Jan. Until then it's all rumor and scuttlebutt.

The original CTS-V shared engines with the Z06 when the V was first released. When the C6 appeared, and the LS2 was the top of the line, the V was given that engine.

Now that the C6 Z06 is out and the CTS is scheduled for a redesign, it's almost certain that we will see the new LS engine from the Z06 in the CTS-V.

Stuffing a Z06 engine in a CTS will not threaten the Z06. They are aimed at very different markets and the lighter Corvette will still have the performance edge. Everyone remains happy.

As for the Lexus IS-F...
It needs more than good performance to make me take notice. It falls into the same place as the WRX STi and Neon SRT-4 in my opinion (albeit a leather-wrapped, tech laden addition). It's fast, but I wouldn't waste the space in my garage with one. Great engineering, but uninspiring or forgettable design.

Maybe my opinion will change when I see one in person at NAIAS... but it would have to turn out to be very "un-Lexus-like" for that to happen.

:yeah: In my view, because it is a Lexus, which isn't well know to be a performance brand, the IS-F will have to be different. But I wonder how it should be different. I doubt the engine will be enough, some siginificant exterior changes probably should be made.
