Received a letter from Cadillac offering the upgrade to digital for $15 if you buy Onstar for one year--- about $215 total. Not bad!

A big advantage there is then you can add the SRX phone to your Verizon account and "share" minutes for 9.99 a month instaed of the outrageous amount Onstar charges.

Now I'm jumping! What year is your SRX??? Do you know if it's Analog/Digital or just Analog?? my '03 & '04 are gonna be shut down in Jan "08! I'm surrendering the leased '04 SRX (probably for the '08 model!) but keeping my also ANALOG GMC YUKON w/phone equipment! The '04 & '03 GM's all used Analog. Hoping a "fix" for the Yukon is thus available also! Any info appreciated! :D

Pay your local Cadillac dealer for a one year subscription ($199 plus tax and a $15 fee), and they'll install the Digital hardware for you.

It's a great upgrade. Not only are the calls clearer and the coverage better, but you speak the entire number when dialing, not the goofy one-at-a-time numbers like now.

When you get the Digital upgrade, what exactly do they change?

Does the new unit still use the old antena on the right rear window, or do they add a 'shark fin' antenna to the roof?

With the conversion, will it be possible to get a IPOD or MP3 input into the radio?
Previously, I found that this kind of an input would only work with the 2005 and up SRX.

Thanks.

Received a letter from Cadillac offering the upgrade to digital for $15 if you buy Onstar for one year--- about $215 total. Not bad! I had OnStar for the free one year period on the '04 and '05 and never used it. Good deal if you use OnStar. Other wise you are paying about 28.00 per month to use the telephone.

Thks! Great news. Will contact dealer even though I will surrender car before '08 service change-over to digital service only! I have experienced the new dialing-at-once number techique and it's great! I buy On-star anyway, so for $15 more......what the heck!;)

I mentioned earlier in another topic that GM is changing the way we handle upgrades so don't be surprised if for the next month or so your dealer experiences a few "bumps" trying to get this handled for you.

Oh, and the only thing they change (depending on the model) is the OnStar module.
The antenna may be replaced on some models but it's with a digitally compatible unit of the same design. Changing the antenna to the new style would require gutting the car and drilling a hole in the roof, so no you don't get that. Also the changes have nothing to do with the radio at all.
